The official "Harmony Divine is an amazing song" thread.

Harmony Divine is one of the best, if not THE best, track(s) on The Knowing in my humble opinion and I am glad to find out I'm not the only one to think so. It has that special something that I can't really put my finger on. I think it's the melody in the chorus and the progressions towards the end of the song. When this song occasionally sticks in your head, you can view at things in the sphere of this song and have a autumnly feel; like the golden light in the fall or sunshine breaking through after a period of rain at 19:40 pm.

Do I make any sense? haha!!!!

Anyway; the song is great like Silent Tomorrow.

"Careless, sin-filled life, mourning,
before your end.
Help me, I cannot see,
I am blind, to all that surrounds me.
Falling, from my grasp, reach out, and take my hand.
Fearful, inner child.
Dreaming, your time away. "

that part just sold the song for me

Have you guys ever thought about performing an entire album straight through as your set for the night?

"An evening with Novembers Doom - Performing the often ignored THE KNOWING in its entirety"

I can do the flyers and promotion!

dude.. I support that fully.

The Knowing in it's entirety.....you'd have to really twist some arms to get that one to actually happen hahaha

At one point, in 1999, I think we did do at least one show, female vocals and all, where we did every song off "Of Sculptured Ivy.." live. Well, not including the two brief instrumental tracks on there, that is.

"The Knowing" was such a "studio" album for us....there were parts that I think we weren't even 100% sure about how they were going to sound or come out until we actually were done recording them! I don't know if doing it live could really do it justice.

Anyhow, you'll either have to wait until we get some headlining shows or release our DVD to hear certain songs live. The last songs from that album we played live were "Awaken" and "The Day I Return" which we did on select tour dates back in 2004.

While ND gets a lot of regular play in my car, "The Knowing" doesn't get but a mere spin here or there....It's a good album, but probably the one that I like least. No real reason as to why, as there are some really good songs on that album, but when I grab for a ND CD, this usually gets tossed aside. Sorry guys.....

Different CDs set different moods, and The Knowing from start to end has a certain "odd" feeling. You really need to be in proper mindset to fully enjoy that entire CD. It's just another CD in our catalog for you to choose from, thats different from the rest. We like the fact we don't duplicate a CD, and they all stand apart from one another.

There will never be another Knowing, or another Amid. There won't be abother Pale Haunt either. The material is always evolving.

i think the closest i remember to doing that whole record live was the sunday of milwaukee metalfest weekend in 2000 at Riley's Rockhouse with like 3 paying people. those poor, poor bands we got on that bill. that was when the album was done and coming out soon thereafter i believe, and we did most of the songs. sounds like that's probably the closest to the entire record live as you'll get. did anyone tape that? paul?

I do have that on tape somewhere. Those shows we tried after metalfest always bombed bad. It seemed like a good idea. hahaha!
