The Official: Pre-Party needs to be all ages rant thread.

What are the laws? I'm really in the dark here. The Masquerade has alcohol and has no age restrictions whatsoever, that's the only place I know in Atlanta.

Actually, the Masq does have an age restriction, most of the shows are 18 and up. There are, however, some exceptions that they could make, one of them is the bar area is 21+, which is why there's usually a security guy sitting and checking wristbands.

The smaller local shows were usually open to the under 18 crowd, but it depended on the wrangling of the promoter (friend of mine managed to get the Blackout AD tour of Faith and the Muse to all ages so a couple of our babybats could show up).

Wow, when was that? It's been a while since F&tM played here, aside from Dragon*Con last year....

If you tell me "oh, that was last week, I'm kinda surprised you weren't there," I shall scream. Nice folks, Monica and William are.... Weird concidence with your post: last night after RennFaire, their table-next-door neighbors from D*C, Three-Quarter Ale, made it a point to tell me how great William and Monica were as neighbors. :)

I'd love to see 'em again.

Err, we now return you to your usual prog- and power-metal forum.

Hmm....I've been to five major shows in the Heaven area of the venue, and there wasn't any age checking, or wristbands, or anything.

I did try to make it down last year, but life reared its ugly head and prevented it.

As long as I get a Dreamscape T-Shirt or some kind of Swag at PP I guess I'll be happy

If that's the case, you'll be happy for sure! =)

Then those were probably shows that managed to get the age req lifted. I've been to more than enough shows there that have had ID checks and wrist checks. It wasn't till recently that they opened up the bar area to under 21, usually the venue is 18+, as I know plenty of our local babybats that got mad when they started getting kicked out.
