Alright, I haven't seen this thread here (and the search function returned nill, so if there is one, blame that ;))

Just curious to see what everyone's top 5 albums of 2005 are. Only give 5. Top 10's are too easy ;).

Same rules as the BWBK list...only full length studio albums apply. No live albums, no EPs.

Heres mine:

1. Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
2. Kreator - Enemy of God
3. Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?
4. Masterplan - Aeronautics
5. Demons & Wizards - Touched by the Crimson King

Opeth--Ghost Reveries
Dream Theater--Octavarium
Sigur Rós--Takk
Stream of Passion--Embrace the Storm
Coldplay--X & Y (SO SUE ME!!!!!!)

I made up my mine. Octavarium #1.

My decision MAY have been influenced by the fact that Dream Theater FINALLY played 2 concerts in my country for the first time, and I've been waiting for them for at least 8 years. So... yep, Octavarium.

ahhh...well maybe cause of the title I didn't recognize it...

Aight. I suppose I could do this one more time.

Kamelot - The Black Halo
Dream Theater - Octavarium
Demons and Wizards - Touched by the Crimson King
Sonata Arctica - Reckoning Night

Thats all my brain feels like processing now.

1. Kamelot - The Black Halo

I think that's the only album I purchased in '05. Haven't been too big on listening to metal this year, or buying albums.

Top 5 in no order

Beyond Twilight-Section X
Frameshift-An Abcense of Empathy
The Mars Volta-Frances the Mute
Sieges Even-The Art of Navigating By the Stars
Biomechanical-Empires of the World

could easily have been 15 others though

:worship: The first three are awesome, havent heard the other two, though :)

Besides: Royal Hunt - Paper Blood (O i love John West)
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny Of Souls

And may be Adagio, if released before 2006 :D

To quote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W00t

"The term "w00t" is a slang interjection used to express happiness or excitement, usually over the Internet. The expression is most popular on USENET posts [1], multiplayer computer games (especially first-person shooters), IRC chats, and instant messages, though use on the World Wide Web in the form of weblogs or in forums is by no means uncommon."

Ghost Reveries is really the absolute best I can think of. I wish I could include Octavarium, but in my opinion the only thing REALLY worth listening to on it is the title track.

CD's
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Pagan's Mind - Enigmatic: Calling
Masterplan - Aeronautics
Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny of Souls

DVD
Batman Begins (hehehe)

Antimatter - Planetary Confinement
Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Steve Vai - Real Illusions: Reflections
Riverside - Second Life Syndrome
Dream Theater - Octavarium

The last one like L. Knight said, influenced by the 2 Dream Theater concerts in Argentina:D

There are a lot of good albums released this year and even some that haven't been released yet (new Adagio later this month). But I am basing my five picks on what I have given the most playtime to. Some albums have been out almost the whole year while others have been out only a month or two. The ones that have only been out a month or two are not on the list solely for me liking them and recently listening to them, but because they have had a LOT of playtime in just a month or two that equals the playtime of my most played albums that have been out a while, which of course says a lot about those albums.

Kamelot-The Black Halo

Shadow Gallery-Room V

Sonata Arctica-Reckoning Night

Children of Bodom-Are You Dead Yet? (prob their worst album but I have listened to it a LOT and still dig it)

Suspyre-The Silvery Image (my pick for sleeper hit of the year)

Pain of Salvation-BE
BE was 2004? Unless you mean the DVD?

Circus Maximus followed (a long way behind) by the others in any order.

1. Circus Maximus - The First Chapter
2. Kamelot - The Black Halo
3. Freak Kitchen - Organic
4. Kiko Loureiro - No Gravity
5. Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland: The History of the Vikings vol 1.

I couldn't quite remember if BE was early this year or late last year and didn't feel like going and grabbing the cd just to look at the year. So let me replace that spot with something else then.

Shadow Gallery-Room V
