The only albums that I bought that were released this year were:
Kamelot's TBH - Great album but my least favorite of Kamelot so far. I was addicted to the first three songs for a few days. I created two new Kamelot fans with Somewhere in Time.
DT's Octavarium - not THAT big of a fan of this album. Sacrificed Sons and the title track are the only two that I really like (especially 21:23 to the end of Octavarium...WOW!! )

Most of my money this year was spent on past albums. So my top five buys over all is:
1)Modest Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition and Night on Bald Mountain, Leonard Bernstein and New York Philharmonic. I absolutely love this album. The Great Gate of Kiev is probably the greatest finale to any work I heard so far. Night on Blad Mountain is exciting and FULL of energy. I would like to see a live recording of this. Also, I only got it for $6.99 :D :D
2)Rush - 2112
3)Rush - Hemispheres
-it was only a matter of time before I, a DT fan, became addicted to Rush.
4)Yes - Close to the Edge
5)Sarah Mclachlan - Surfacing

and for 2006, my top 5 so far are:
1)Symphony X - " "
2)who cares
3)who cares
4)who cares
5)who cares

:D :D :D :D

I couldn't have said it better myself.

2005:
1. russel allens Atomic Soul
2.dreamtheater octavarium
3.god forbid constitution of treason
4.trivium asendency
5. sevendust/avenged sevenfold (drummers are both good)

Does Dominate count as an '05 release? If it does, it tops my list. Other than that would be Touched by the Crimson King - D&W, Ghost Reveries - Opeth and This Godless Endeavour - Nevermore.

Hmm I have only heard 3 albums that were released in 2005...
Octavarium
Circus MAximus First Chapter
Opeth- Ghost Reveries (not that impressed...deliverance is way better)
