The old Metallica is back?

Im sure Metallica are a little hungry, they have heard lots of the verbal abuse by the fans, they know their record sales have been sucking (especially the poorly sold St Anger as compared to the multi platinum black album). They know that St anger was made in a lazy quick manner, thats one reason they got rid of Bob Rock...he was making it to easy for them. The new producer is challenging them, making things hard for them, and telling them what riffs suck and helping Metallica mold themselves back into what they were big for in the first place. James even said he wanted to prove they are still good, and that they can still jam/ write riffs, and party. I even read Hetfield pulled out his old amps from the Master of Puppets sessions to write riffs on, he said it was more than inspiring when he brought those out... he said he wrote enough riffs for the next 3 albums.

Sounds like we might get some nicer, more thrashy tones back into the mix as well then.

James still sings like he is at a Kareoke bar.

The last few albums he sounds like he is reading someone elses lyrics for the first time on a live mic.

Thats the main thing that bothers me.

Even Load and Re-Load sounded fine even though the music changed.

There's no more intensity. It sounds fake instead of from the heart.

I could live with the boring country metal riffs if at least James could put some strength back into the vocals.

It sounds a bit more promising than St. Anger but I think I am still going to be dissappointed.

If Max Cavalera can still sounds as brutal as ever, I am sure James can pull something off.

took the words right outta my mouth man.

I had a myspace site called Metalliban but it got deleted due to "offensive content":

Cliff Turban - bass
Durka Mohammed - lead sitar
Jihad Jetfield - vocals/rhythm sitar
Large Oilrig - drums

It featured reworking of classic metallica songs, including:

Sikh and Destroy
Trapped Under Rice
Osama Said
Enter Sanjeef
Saddam But True
...And Justice For Allah
Sanskritarium
Islam I Evil?

Im sure the tone will be better than previous efforts due to riffing going back to the old style. At least they are avoiding going for all out radio rock singles, they stated the album has about 10 songs, and each song is 8 or 9 minutes long. It sounds like this one is going to be epic with lots of diversity, especially that they stated they are going to try to put out 80minutes worth of music... cramming the cd full of music.

I got sorta excited listening to this.....

Haha. Yeah, I want to believe too! I was really stoked the day St anger came out. Then I remember putting it on the shelf later that day. I haven't listened to it since. After seeing this, I want to give them another chance again. I suddenly have the urge to see them live this year too. I haven't seen them live since 1989!

The first time I put St. Anger in my CD player, I seriously thought I had received a faulty CD, until I realized all the songs sounded that way. Even if it´s just sonically, the new album can´t possibly be worse than St., which is always a good thing! I´m also beginning to wonder if I´m looking at some different clips, because I can´t reaallly make the connection to the old stuff. Perhaps it´s my negative mindset.. Anyways, I don´t care if it´s a full blown back-to-MOP-era or just rock n´roll as long as it´s good music.

I totally agree. I can't hear anything that's even remotely sounding like RTL, MOP or AJFA ...
