as somebody mentioned here, alone is the perfect ending for an almost perfect album... the songs from "of chaos and eternal night" are there just as a bonus, they seem more like songs from "the gallery".

So since reading this thread I've given skydancer a few spins, and yes I absolutely love it. I heard the early At the gates stuff first, so Skydancer didn't seem so great and original to me when it first came into my possesion. But thinking about it, I would have probably adored this album if I'd have heard it before early ATG. For me all the tracks are stand outs... but the best moment is in My Faeryland Forgotten, even though it's really maidenesque, and not so Goteborg (well apart from the drums maybe).

Oh ATG, what a fantastic album they first released with The Red in the Sky is Ours, utterly progressive, i usually don't pay much attention with the drumming, but even i know the drummer is doing something very special there... i adore the breaks, its genious, and the violin too, and the melodic passages... another masterpiece of melodic death music.
