@setyouranchor:
Now all you have to do is write something in Helvetica on those pics ;)
doesn't matter what it says but you will be in Hipsterheaven than :D

doesn't matter, you could write quotes from hipsterhitler.com :D
saw a pic once, that looked a bit like yours that said something like:
"look, I wrote something in Helvetica on this image and 90% of the people
looking at it will think it's cool"
there are a few pics like that out there and they're so true.

But I still love Helvetica

Thanks for the advice guys. I may look into the 50mm f1.8 lens. What is the next lowest cost decent zoom lens one might want to look, as a further option? 50mm seems a fair bit restrictive in tighter spaces. Also, what's a good carry case to get for the 550D and any extra lenses?

I'm still just shooting with the stock 550D lens, so nothing great, but some shots from the last session:

There honestly isn't a such thing as a low light, cheap zoom. Any zoom that stops down to 2.8 all the way through the zoom range is gonna be $1000+ unless you look into cheaper lens brands like Tamron and Sigma. If you want something that is gonna work for everything get the Canon 28mm f/2.8. If you need to zoom you can always walk forwards :) If you do want a zoom get the 18-200 f/3.5, no low light factor but it is pretty cheap (for a zoom) and it covers a wide range from wide angle to medium-long zoom.

The best bags, in my opinion, are the ones from Thinktank Photo. Tamrac makes pretty good bags too, I had one for a long time before I outgrew it.

Cool, thanks for all the advice. I've bought the Cannon 50mm 1.8 II lens. Will look into those bags.

Meant to ask... what should I go about learning when it comes to post-processing photos? Is there a certain filter bank on Photoshop I should get, are there any principles and shit I should read up on somewhere?

I like shooting black and white... but I'd also like to learn how to manipulate color photos to make them more vivid or dreary.

So far I'm mostly just playing with brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness.

Photoshop man, nothing else compares. Gimp is free, and has a template to make it like PS, but when I tried to use it all it did was crash.

Some shots from last Halloween that I did with the new 60D.... This camera is really great in low light! Sorry for the late post, but I've been busy as hell!
