Scuze meh, but that seems like a bit of a pointless cycle to me.

How is that a pointless cycle? You have to learn/know something before you can teach it. You don't just pick a random person off the street and say "teach Latin plz." Obviously, they have to be taught Latin first.

If anyone has been forcibly made to take french GCSE like I did, they will have noticed that a lot of words are similiar but sometimes only wiht somewhat archaic words in the other language (both ways round actually). Also french is such a good language that the french for weekend is le week-end They stole that!

Modern French is incredibly archaic in terms of spelling. They don't pronounce half of their words, so I wouldn't mind seeing an update in spelling.
