just for lols, this is me and some random child I found at a summer festival.

Yup, I'm the one in the middle of the dragon with the pole covering my face. Everyone on the 'dragon team' there is from my Wing Chun class. We all got talked into it by the instructor.

The kid in your photo looks like he stuck his thumb in his slushie, and is about to drop it on the ground. Cool outfit you're wearing. Why exactly are you two in a photo together?

That's awesome! Is that in VA?

I really just found him at this festival in my town, grabbed him, and asked someone to take a picture of us. I have no shame. I think I also ate some of his slushie.

Wow, you're quite a hustler.

Yeah the festival was in Richmond. It wasn't that amazing overall really, and for some reason they did different parts of it in different locations without announcing beforehand where anything would be, but there was some cool stuff going on. The tiger puppet dancers put on a far better performance than our noobtastic dragon group.

No.

Can you? I'm curious, a lot of non-Japanese people claim they can tell the difference, but in Japan I have to explain to everyone like 5 times that I am not Japanese.

So I guess this makes WAIF's attempt at "Can you really not tell she's not Japanese?" all the more silly and obvious.

I'll admit it doesn't help that I'm a bit of a goddamn weeaboo (compared to your average whitey, I guess), but still...!

I don't speak Japanese fluently at all. I have extremely limited vocabulary but I have a good accent and most of my interactions with Japanese people who don't know I'm American are in situations like restaurants, cabs, etc.

Thanks! A nice old lady picked it out for me. It's a yukata (casual summer kimono type thing). I do prefer the Korean traditional dress (hanbok) though, perhaps not entirely unrelated to racial pride

Are you a NARUTARD?! My 21st birthday party theme was "Dominatrixes and Narutards" but the dress code was "deviant subcultural"

Oh fuck no. The closest I get to liking retarded shonen is Berserk, but Berserk is legitimately awesome.

I do like a lot of anime and manga, yeah, but. Er. I'm not the sort who thinks it's cool to be an otaku, hikkikomori, etc. I just enjoy that stuff, same as I enjoy film, comics, and so on. I also have an appreciation for how it all fits into cultural and historical contexts, I'm into stuff like superflat, and I'm basically just interested in cultural exchange in general...

Today I read How to Suicide by Shintaro Kago.

Does anyone think it's cool to be a hikkikomori?

You are far more weeaboo than I am, the only anime I've seen is "Interstella 5555" which hardly counts.

You should work in Japan.
