I was expecting to have a nice post about my first all-2005 haul, but CD Universe screwed me up.

I ordered Sentenced - "The Funeral Album" and got instead Nightrage - "Descent Into Chaos". It seems they have a crossed link in their site
http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?style=music&pid=6877642&cart=254512130&bab=E

If you check you'll see they have both album listed!

The worst part is that I noticed the error checking the site for my order and I wrote to them. Some Customer Service representative assured me that it was only a link mistake and that my title will arrive correctly...vain hope in the end:erk:

Now I have to see if I can return the wrong one in exchange, but considering I live outside US. It'll probably cost me more to ship it back than to keep it and exchange it in some store for a title I do want

This never happened to me in over 10 years of ordering online, and I even consider to keep the wrong title if it wasn't that is Melodic Death metal, which means that even with Gus G at the guitar I will not stand the vocalist :yuk:

The rest of the haul came alright, all of them were reviewed before so I link the reviews in case somebody care to read them

All are standard versions in jewel case, the special editions are available at The End.

I love Nightrage too, but I don't think Wyvern likes Death Metal! Do you Wyvern?

He likes the music of a lot of Death Metal bands but the vocals wreck it for him, which leaves him in the shitty situation he's in with the Nightrage CD. Isn't that right my father?

I love Death Metal myself but to each their own

I am a bit surprised to see you ordered the new Shadow Gallery after you gave them a 4 out of 10. I know you said you were going to buy it anyway but I was just wondering if you still think that rating stands.

I really like the album so I am curious.

I just recently got shipped Kamelot "Black Halo" Russian version with edited radio tracks of "Somewhere in time" and "March of Mephisto". Which, jeeez what the hell happened to the solos, they chopped just about 2 minutes off of each song.

I also ordered two Conception albums 'In your Multitude" and "Parallel Minds" from one seller. I was so excited when I got the Conception cd's only to find that they had only shipped one and were still processing the second one.....ugh! more waiting!! :erk:

I didn't want to have to wait to hear Conception at PP VI, so being the good metal chick I am...must listen to NOW! "In your multitude" was a surprise listen for me, never having heard before, but I thought great solid tracks, some power, some progressive, strong vocals, great solos, I heard influences of Yes and Rush and that is not a complaint! Now I'm just waiting for the next cd! :Spin:

Well, actually hearing it on Tuesday had grown on me a bit. I remember what you (or Carnut I guess) said that I had to see the album more as a prog rock album more than prog metal, so I'm trying to do so. Also it has a contribution by Arjen Lucassen and I'm a whore for Arjen :tickled:

FLASH: I wrote to CD Universe stating the situation and they not only answered me immediately apologizing, they sent me "The Funeral Album" FREE! And I don't even have to return the Nightrage one (which I'm going to trade).

Amazing customer service :worship: , this reassure my confidence in mankind and the capitalism

Remember what Adam Smith wrote about capitalism;

"It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest. We address ourselves, not to their humanity but to their self-love, and never talk to them of our necessities but of their advantages."

You will find that you can depend more on peoples love for themselves and what they value then on their altruistic motives. And I mean that in a positive way.

Just as being with your good friends and loved ones should not entail a sacrifice for you or them, so trading must be a *mutual* benefit to all parties! It is often said that capitalism has no inherent ethics but it does.

It makes possible the peaceful exchange of values to a mutual benefit.
With neither party sacrificing their own values nor the values of others.

I've never had a problem with CD universe. Good prices on some stuff and quick service. They could package the CDs a little better but I have been lucky so far.

Neither do I, this is the first "nuissance" I had experimented, but as I stated it was resolved very satisfactorily. Nowdays CD Universe is my main provider of music.

Great quote Hawk, I wish the oil companies and Bill Gates understand it

They don't understand it because they are sucking on the tit of corporate welfare, vested interests and import tariffs. :yuk:

If you ever hear Bush talking about freedom and free markets you will know that you are listening to a hypocrite and a damn lair.

The free market Adam Smith talked about was a genuine laissez faire economy.

What would you like for that Nightrage cd Vern? Do you have any Rhapsody or
Vahldemar cds? I've tried to get into power metal but it's really not my thing.

I was about to see if there is anything appealing to trade it for in a local store. I'm not into Rhapsody, but Valdhemar may be interesting. I let you know soon anyway.

Thanks for the offer ;)

Thank you! Adam Smith was not primarily an economist but a moral philosopher. His "An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations," was published in 1776 the very year the declaration of independence was issued. :worship:

if you are interested you can read more about him here:
