The POWER of love

it's pretty clear nobody but me and bigfakesmile has it in their hearts to ridicule stupid metal lyrics about surreal, sexist love
Awww, I'll join in. The whole story aspect of this is hilarious

Sonata Arctica - Letter to Dana

Dana, my darling, I'm writing to you.
Cause your father passed away, it was a beautiful day
And I don't want to bother You anymore,
I used to hope you'd come back
But not anymore Dana.

My eyes might have betrayed me, but I have seen
Your picture on the cover of a filthy magazine
And I think my heart just cannot handle that
Dana, my darling, would be so bad.

Dana my darling I'm writing to you
Your mother passed away it was a really rainy day
And I didn't mean to bother you anymore
Your mother wished: Come visit your fathers grave, Dana

Your father disowned you because you have sinned
But he did forgive you in condition he was in
And I you won't do those things anymore
Dana My darling I'm waiting for

Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
to travel away, faraway

No, you can't surprise me anymore
I have seen it all before
But it seems I cannot let you go
Anyhow, Dana, Dana, Dana, Dana

And I think that I told you, I'd wait for you forever
Now I know someone else's holding you,
so, for the first time in my life - I must lie
Lie's a sin, mess that I am in,
Love is not the thing I feel know
I promise you: I won't write again 'til the sun sets
behind your grave

Dana, oh, Dana I'm writing to you, I heard you passed
away it was a beautiful day
I'm old and I feel time will come for me, my diarys
pages are full of thee

Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
to travel away, faraway

 letter to dana really cracks me up. the "22 acacia avenue"-esque atmosphere without anything remotely outrageous actually happening just can't be matched by other songs. sonata arctica also have a knack for singing other people's bad lines.

Mamas put your babies to sleep, story too cruelsome for
them this is. In Junior high she said goodbye to her parents and
ran away with a boy. She left her family warm and kind, all of her
friends said "you´re out of your mind".
Life of her own she would find, it´s monday and she´s
gotta grind.

A Job as a waitress she sure was to find, beautiful face,
mind of a child. Boy got her pregnant, Mary-Lou cried,
"For this I am too young oh why did you lie"
You said "it´s okay if we do it today",
I was so scared that you would go away.
"Despite all the papers been signed, mama take me
back be so kind".

Only a child, reckless and wild, needs to come
home again. He promised the moon but won´t marry you.
Nothing to do, eating for two, he´s goin´ out with
someone new. Sunshine or rain, it´s all the same, life
isn´t gray
oh Mary-Lou.

Mamas do your children still sleep, in the safe of their
cradles so sweet. Story I told you I have forseen,
Your little angel ain´t always so clean.
Days to come aren´t easy to see, You can change ´em but it isn´t free.
I see that you don´t believe, ooo-oo, but you
will see.

please notice the author assuming women would prefer staying at home until they're 30 instead of getting a job. it's such a modern view.
