best fucking band ever, at least very close for me. marr is one of the greatest guitarists ever, and morrissey is, well..... morrissey. what more can i say?

btw, I saw Morrissey about a month ago. Besides the absence of a couple classic Smiths songs I wanted to see, it was great. He did open with The Queen is Dead though, and wowwww was that fucking awesome.

the thing that is really awesome about them, is out of all the songs on the albums, and all the b-sides I really can't say they have a bad song. thats really fucking impressive.

Yeah, they were very consistent. Morrissey is not only a great singer, he is also my favourite lyricist ever, he wrote some really heartfelt stuff...and Marr is a badass guitar player indeed, love his guitar strumming, no one in pop/alternative music could ever play like him.

agreed on both parts. so many times when im listening to a song its Moz just gets it. And some Smiths songs are freakin hard to play

The Smiths are one of my permanent favourite bands. Morrisey puts many off with his aloof and foppish image but he is a savage, mordant lyricist and his vocal style perfectly complements his lyrics. Johnny Marr's guitar and bass lines hang together beautifully too - amazing that he was doing some of this aged 19... amazing band.
