The Unstoppable LUNCH Thread!

My family went out to Olive Garden last night, and it was surprisingly tasty. The cheese tortelloni was pretty unruly.

Oh and when Derick ordered a water, he said "I'll have a WUT-TER." Then I mentioned it later on last night and he said he knew and that it had been bothering him all night that he said it. Aww

I cooked some rice. I was planning on lunching some fried rice, but as soon as my rice finished people came home and started dinner preparations on the stove. As to why dinner is always started at 3 pm I HAVE NO IDEA.

So I quickly microwaved an egg and tossed it into my bowl of rice with some soy sauce. blehhhhhhh.

I read fried rice is better with cold leftover rice anyway, so I'll just try all this again later with the extra.

Yes, the leftover rice ended up being dry, but I guess that's the point. I would have preferred fresh rice methinks. Turned out not so bad for my first attempt at fried rice. Added egg and some frozen jap veggie blend I had in the freezer.

Also it was the first use of my new cast iron skillet, which claimed to be "preseasoned," but even with adding oil I had a fair amount of sticking, not so much from the rice but from the eggs. Or maybe starch from the rice caused the egg to stick I DO NOT KNOW. Either way, took a bunch of scrubbing to get it cleaned so I'll likely reseason the pan.

Energy-replenishing sandwich after work:

Thick, hand-sliced buttered bread, lots of medium cheddar, honey roast ham, prawn-cocktail crisps, and bacon with HP sauce. 7.5/10
