Well see, the speed of pain is relative to the medium it must pass through to get to the receiver. Think of it this way: the speed of light is slower in water. Similarly, the speed of pain will be slower when having to travel through all kinds of crap.
Plus you have to take into account the initial potential energy behind the source of pain and the rate at which it turns into kinetic engery. For example, if I slowly twist your arm off, the pain won't be as fast as say when i just hack it off with a jumbo axe.
It's complex ish, I tell you!
