The what's going on in Thrash thread

Fark Me!
They've finally opened up vaxes in this country to 12 and over because apparently kids get covid too!! But it's by appointment only and getting an appointment is harder than Chinese Arithmetic. We're still mostly in lockdown at the moment so the kids aren't at school, but they have one week left, then 2 weeks holidays, and the government is claiming all kids can be vaxed before school goes back. I can't get a fucking appointment until the day school goes back!

It's fucking ridiculous! I understand that it's been so slow. I also understand that many kids are looking at it an asking why the hell they couldn't get it earlier given all the adults that refused to get it, and that's feeding the massive demand right now. But we are buying nearly out of date stock from other countries just to get jabs happening at a higher rate. I don't have a problem with the nearly out of date doses, better they are used than thrown out, but we should have secured enough doses in the first place.

However it's all good now, the government say no free bookings for 4 weeks and the booking system wont allow further bookings. I rang around and found a cancer clinic five minutes walk from here offering jabs and they had a free appointment next Monday. Kidlet wont be fully vaxxed by the time school goes back but it wont be long after.

It shows that the system does kind of work, but it also shows that like every other government website the vax website sucks and you may as well get a stone and chisel out because it's quicker and easier.

I hate it when that happens. I've lost count of the number times I've come back to a thread only to find my post hadn't posted.

Since I've never heard that band I'm gonna say it can't be any worse!

I've never heard anything they play either, but people were comparing them to Maiden at one stage. I didn't want to risk having to call those people idiots so I never listened to Ghost.

Yeah after reading the article I'm not exactly pleased he's reached out to Drover. That guy fucking blows.

Ouch. Why do you say that? I thought his solos were really good in King Diamond and Megadeth, and his solo album as well. I wasn't the biggest Eidolon fan but they were pretty good.

I think this Chuck Billy solo album sounds like a great idea. Chuck has a VERY versatile voice. I don't like singer solo albums where they just ask other musicians to write all their music for them though.

Suicide Shift was his almost project years ago. It got talked about a good bit. But then it never really happened. I was really excited for it. Then I think we got DDP. But I'm pretty sure Suicide Shift was just Chuck on vocals.

Yeah, it had guys from Sadus in it too. I wish it had come out. I think it was hatched from the current live Testament lineup at that time, which had 2 Sadus members plus Chuck of course.

I liked it when it came out. Not as much as previous albums obviously. But I liked it. I hadn't listened to it since the 90's though. I tried maybe two years ago. I find it to be at least half filler.

It's gotta be the most overrated album ever, with Enter Sandman being the most overrated song. But it's certainly got its moments.

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/o...elease-date-of-new-album-keeps-getting-moved/

Looks like Overkill have been told "not until you can tour" as well. I saw them advertising a few Euro shows with Evile yesterday so they are definitely booking gigs which is a good sign.

But still, this attitude that tours must happen with albums has to fucking stop. Recorded music is one thing that didn't have to stop through the majority of this pandemic and it's one of the things people would have bought given so little else to do. What is going to happen if the shit really hits the fan and another wave of this shit hits the world worse than the first one? Bands will still bitch no music no tour?

I'm honestly surprised the labels aren't pushing for more recorded stuff. People have said for years labels make little from tours, they skin the artist for all the record money and merch. I would have thought the labels would be crying poor if that was the case, after all if the stories are true they are only making money on back catalogue sales, of which are no longer huge profit sales items. Seems to me that with so many bands and labels both on hiatus there is a lot more money going around the music industry than the consumer has been led to believe.

I know that's brushing the industry as a whole with one broad stroke, and the answer isn't as simplistic as I make it, but I also don't think it's as complicated as we are being told.

I have not heard any artist these days in metal music saying they make significant money on music sales. I also would prefer they focus on that, but that's not where the money is. Really, the high profit items are t-shirt/merch sales. But you can sell more merch on tour. People prefer older album covers too, so you won't make as much on shirts with recent album covers. Bands who made their name in previous decades absolutely make more money on the road than with new music (that gets dumped straight to streaming anyway, for pennies). I wish it wasn't that way but everyone says that it is. Tom Hunting described Exodus as "traveling t-shirt salesmen".

Maybe they thought the band wanted to be as big as Maiden. I don't remember the full context I just knew I wasn't interested in what they were offering.

Well I've never really heard his King Diamond days. So this really only pertains to Megadeth. To me his solos were really uninspired with no real feeling. They are also extremely repetitive. He plays this one run in almost every solo. They are just (kinda) fast and then done. I bought that One Night In Buenos Ares dvd and gave it away because his renditions of everyone else's solos were not very good. I read years later after he was out that he didn't really care about doing the solos right. But when you're in Megadeth, that's the job. It showed that he didn't do his homework or just didn't care. So that's my take on him, he and his brother are half assed. But that's my opinion.
(I almost forgot about his version of A Tout Le Monde where he adds to Marty's solo. Awful.)

Yeah I agree about Chuck's possible album. Sounds cool. I also agree it doesn't seem like the greatest thing to just grab some people and say write me songs that don't sound like Testament. It seems like if he's really inspired to do this he'd have more ideas.
But it's Chuck so it will probably be cool.
