The what's going on in Thrash thread

Lol. No clue. But how much could it be? And your car is safe.

Most of the car parks in the city here (where you'd park if driving to a gig) charge upwards of $15 per hour with the peak at about $30 per hour. And despite the fact they call them secure car parks it's been proven in court that the disclaimer on the bottom of the ticket that says something like "park at own risk, establishment takes no responsibility for the safety of your car, items in the car, or you" is actually upholdable.

Parking down on the Las Vegas strip used to be free, at least for Las Vegas locals like @Thrashard925. I think parking rates would probably be $20-30. I try to avoid the strip but if I am heading down there for a show and plan on doing any drinking I pay the money for an Uber.

No one is forcing you to go, but if a parking fee and a free covid shot is all that is stopping you from going then I have to question your commitment to thrash metal and Testament. Show Mandalay Bay and boycott the concert. Head down to the Fremont Experience and enjoy one of the free shows with all the posers, tourists and homeless people.
Maybe Skillet is more his style.

Now see? That's a good idea. Just Uber it!

$30 does seem steep. But it's Vegas. And it's hardly Testament's doing lol.

If I want to go to a gig I have to take half a day off work to drive to the city (not a big issue I work from home) about $20 in fuel, get accommodation (min would be $150 a night), pay for the tickets (between $100 and $300 depending on the band), then take at least half the following day off and drive home.

Sure I could stay at a back packers, but fuck that. And driving home after a gig just isn't worth it, as someone who spent about 20 years driving trucks all night, there is no way I'd put my own car at such a high risk of animal strike. (and I'm an old fart now I don't need to prove I can stay awake all night!)

Oh for sure, I could spend it on shit I really don't need...oh hang on I already do that!!

My next big purchase is going to be a graphics tablet, but not one that plugs into a computer, one that is completely stand alone and can be taken anywhere. It's actually going to be for our eldest who wants to move into digital art, but Daddy is going to play with it before she gets her hands on it :)

Testament are nearly old enough to get a Vegas residency. Although don't do it now because Gene Simmons says there are too many other acts there :)

A Testament residency would be cool, but if any metal band can pull it off it will most likely be Metallica. I don't think most casinos like having the metal shows anyways.

When I saw Foo Fighters Dave Grohl mentioned more than once the possibility of a Vegas residency. The wife tried to buy tickets for the Adele residency but the demand was crazy. You had to preregister with ticketmaster just to get a shot at buying tickets and then it wasn't a guarantee. During her assigned ticket buying time there were 2000 people ahead of her in the digital queue and with a limit of 4 tickets per person and the venue being I think 5000-7000 she ended up not being able to get tickets. I have heard of crazy resale prices for those shows.

Yeah I can't imagine too many metal bands settling into a residency like that. Bands like Kiss are made for it, but metal bands I just don't think would work. But then again if you put enough money into anything it can be a success.

It's kind of funny, because in the 80's and 90's all we (and the rest of the bands) wanted was a residency. Sure a residency at a small pub was not Vegas level stuff but a residency meant regular gigs, it meant you could pump out a shit load of flyers and let people know where you'd be for an extended period, but most of all it meant the possibility of good crowds and music reps being there.

Sweet! Test it out for me too!
