The what's going on in Thrash thread

Given the one I'm looking at is a 17inch screen I'm not sure how long I'll be able to hide it :)
I could always make it a bribe, 'get good grades and it's yours', then she doesn't get it until she's pulling straight A's

We were talking about it yesterday and discussing what we'd expect from a child who got such an expensive gadget and we've settled on

at this stage. It's still a while off because she needs a bit of an attitude adjustment, which maybe a new year of school without fucking lockdowns might bring, so the model may change but this is where we are currently at.

Yeah it's way more than my artistic skills deserve too but if our daughter can do on the screen what she can do on paper we think it might be an investment in her future.

Realistically I'm going to have to, it wont take long to prove that any artistic ability I had is long gone and it's little more than a scribble pad. Her art is better than mine ever was, different subjects and different styles, but way better than mine was. I'm not bad with photoshop and I spent years doing graphic arts, but not hand drawn stuff.

My hand drawing has gone to shit. I used to be pretty good. But it's been a lot of years and guitar has taken it's place pretty much. I can still bust something decent out once in a while but that's about it.

I was always terrible at drawing people, I was a dab hand at sign writing, and could draw scenery or vehicles or buildings but if I wanted a person in the picture the picture was ruined. My daughter is brilliant any the human figure, she's been good for a few years now, but recently she bought herself a little doll on a stick, kind of like a little wooden crash test dummy with moving arms and legs etc.

I asked her why she needed it and it turns out this is doll helps artists draw the people because you can put it in almost any position and it helps people visualise where arms sit or where legs hang etc. In my day that sort of thing was just a weird kids toy, now it's an artists aide.

Oh yeah I've seen those. I'm not really sure what I thought they were for lol. Working with clay maybe? Idk. But drawing sounds like a good use for it!

I'd have never thought it was a drawing aide but it does make sense when I see her use it.
