The what's going on in Thrash thread

Years ago, around the time of the big 4 shows, I read an interview where Scott Ian fanboyed out and describe how great it was to participate in the show and get the chance to see Metallica live. It is clear he is a fan of Metallica. Do you think anyone in Metallica is still a fan of Anthrax?

I really don't have a problem with him being a bit of a fanboy, but I think Scott's gone full circle now and is straight out arse kissing. He takes every opportunity he can to connect himself to Metallica and the Big 4. It's like he's trying to remind people his band once mattered.

Lars proved recently how much of a fan he is of Anthrax when asked which songs he liked out of their entire catalogue and all he could name was Got The Time and Antisocial :)

I once made the mistake of listening to their band, they certainly got their talent from Lars!

Are they worse than Max Cavalera's kids bands? :guh:

The last few times I saw Soulfly, Max had his sons' bands opening and playing in support. One was kinda like a death metal sounding band called Incite I think. Not bad, but not better than the unsigned local bands. His youngest had a more punk sounding band called Lody Kong and they were awful. I don't blame Max for trying to help his kids get a start in the business but I guess talent isn't genetic.

Lars' kids band is probably more rock than metal, more rock than Metallica even, but it's softer rock, so I suppose it's unfair of me to call them talentless sons of a rockstar. They could be supremely talented but just not ready to show it :)

I haven't heard anything Max's kids have done, but I'm not really that surprised by your appraisal. Apart from a few songs on the Cavalery Conspiracy albums I haven't been a huge fan of anything Max has done, even Soulfly had it moments for me. Max's missus probably forced the kids into the business :)

There are very few bands made up of kids of famous people that are great. That band recently with Slash's son and someone elses son I can't remember turned into nothing. Lars' sons band is nothing. About the only two I can think of off the top of my head who are doing any good are Rob Trijillo's son playing on and off in Suicidal Tendencies since he was 14 and Steve Harris' daughter who has an amazing voice but her music isn't that great.

(oh and Meatloaf's son in law who thinks he's in a big thrash band!)
