The what's going on in Thrash thread

Happy 23rd Birthday Flotsam And Jetsam's HIGH.
I think the production really affected this album. It's got some great songs.

...and apparently Youtube doesn't have the full album?

This is what Flots had to say about it on FB

"...Lesson learned: It's OK to be metal..." Happy 23rd anniversary to "High"!

It is. The volume control is a bit iffy though. I have the thing set on two and I can't hear the kids talking in the back seat, any higher and I can't hear my wife screaming beside me :)

I don't really think it's wattage alone. I didn't replace the speakers or put an amp in all I did was replace the head unit. I think it's probably more about the internal settings, and it could be one I've missed somewhere. The android system is fairly basic, it doesn't even have an AM radio (not that I need one), but it's also a bit convoluted in that the same settings, like volume or equalisation can be found on multiple screens, and they can be separately controlled from each screen. The music player it came with I couldn't even get to display a full album list, and I couldn't get it to sort the music in band/album/track no/title order. It's strange and I still need to do some research into what android apps the expensive brands of this world use, but while it plays and does most of what I ask I've got other things to be doing.

It has wifi so the next time the kids and or wife are bugging me I'll just go and sit in the garage and connect to the modem in the house and play around online looking for other apps :)

Hmmmm very interesting,so it’s like you have to adjust the EQ for whatever playback you’re listening to?

Well that would probably help, especially given that mp3s are not the most reliable source of music file. But I also think there is some master settings I haven't bothered to play with that might change something. It's mostly my inexperience with Android that is the issue. I've used Android phones for years, I've run Android emulators on the PC for years, but every version is different and fucking around with the car head unit seems less forgiving than a computer where I can just delete and start again. TBH it may be as simple as deleting and starting again with the head unit I'm just not sure I want to head down that path yet.

Oh I see well I guess it’s just a matter of time and being a tech wizard that you are,I’m sure you’ll figure it out.Hell I can’t even transfer my ITunes library from an old 2007 HP laptop to my newer Apple Mac air book and it’s really bugging me. I know you are really not fond of anything Apple, but the way I have the old laptop set up always worked for me. I have a USB stick also but I cannot figure any of this out as I am only so literate at this stuff!

I gave up on iTunes years ago because it seemed easier to give up that figure out why it worked like it did.
Not sure how new versions compare but I thought you could just transfer the playlist file from one itunes install to another. I seem to remember it either transferred all the files, or it just transferred the playlist and you did the files manually.

Does itunes store your files in a cloud or on your device?
Is it possible to export it to a cloud (or maybe USB drive) then import it to the new computer?

On my device. I don’t know,I’ve watched tutorials on YouTube and I guess I have to be more patient with the process. The thing is my actual digital purchase’s are few as I still buy the physical copies then import them but mostly I search out flac, zip,RAR files for a lot of the 60s&70s psych bands which have taken years to compile and would really suck to lose. Also Newer versions of ITunes tend to block that type of stuff as well as non purchased newer files. I use Winrar then extract the file and use ITUNES as the default player.

If it were me I'd make physical copies of everything and put them on a usb stick or portable drive then keep them separate. Do straight file copies from the hard drive, then from the storage device do the same file copy onto the new machine. I don't know how I'd handle the itunes play lists but with files backed up and copied across it gives you the chance to play around.

I've heard about itunes sometimes not playing/listing music it thinks is pirated but I've never witnessed it and would only be guessing at why it does that.

Thanks for info, I’ll carefully try those techniques. They do I think because exactly what you mentioned Piracy, they want you to purchase everything and I just can’t afford that. After having supported bands from everything from merchandise to actual CD’s over the years,I think I have done my part and still do only on a smaller scale and I realize MP3 format is inferior to pure analog but some albums sound better than others and going digital is just far more convenient these days.

mp3 is convenient, it's easy to transfer, it sounds good enough for smaller players, phones, cars etc, but most of all it's small. iTunes ignoring that many people have mp3s that aren't bought from them is naive. I understand they do it to try and protect their product but they are doing it at a cost that is making them unpopular.

There used to be a program called sharepod that made file moving easier, but I'm not sure what it did for playlists or if it works with new versions of itunes.
