The what's going on in Thrash thread

Do you ever have one of those moments where you think "why did I buy this?"
I was listening to Vicious Rumours Welcome To The Ball yesterday and I remember really liking that album when in first came out. I remember knowing most of the songs word for word and playing it regularly. But yesterday while it was on I kept thinking "why the hell do I still own this?" It's not terrible but it's not that great either.
I had one the other day. I've already put it out of my mind as to what it was.

He already does that on his youtube channel. What's the point.

I think it's part of a series and they are just trying to keep their social media stuff somewhat current. Maybe they don't have live shows ready to release like other bands. He probably also knows that not everyone that follows them on social media follows his YT channel. However didn't he say he wasn't doing Q&A on his site for the foreseeable future?

Hope it's good!

I think the writing is on the wall that it will be another Overkill album and that we wont see anything ground breaking or even mould breaking. But if they can follow up with something like Wings or Grinding Wheel I'll be happy.

Yeah. I guess you never know. Every 3 or four albums since the 90's they do seem to come out with a really killer album all the way thru. They are due I think.

It kind of makes sense they do something as a band rather than just Zetro doing his own thing and hoping Exodus fans follow it. Zetro's YT links usually appear on Exodus' Facebook feed but not always in a timely manner so it does make some sense to push a band united thing from the FB page.

Because of Blitz's voice and DD's writing I think they already have a large portion of people saying "it will be the same", even if it isn't. That's a fair bit to overcome but hopefully they haven't just decided that recording is a necessary evil because they can't tour. There has been some shit come out of bands in isolation who seem to think releasing anything is better than releasing something good. I hope Overkill aren't doing that.

I thought it was a temporary thing because of covid.

I don't know how temporary anything is, but Exodus have done very little on social media since this started. Ask each member questions is a simple and easy connection method that will create traffic, allow interaction directly with the band and I'd reckon it would be more watched than Zetro's YT channel. Once they get back on the road arguably the need for such interaction is less however whether that makes this sort of thing any more temporary I don't know.

People like Bittner, and Ozzy, bands like Megadeth, Flots and Maiden barely let a few days go by without something on social media and often it's an interactive type of thing. For the likes of them I don't think interacting with the fans on social media is a temporary thing, but with Exodus and Testament it definitely appears to be

Why don't they just link the youtube channel with FB?

I don't know if that's an automatic link update or not, but the problem with FB is that it's not always updating. It does update some things within minutes of posting but it's regularly 12 hours after a post that FB tells me something was posted, sometimes it's days. I presume that's the same with all FB users. You can set a priority to certain "followed sites" but even that doesn't work perfectly, sometime FB just seems to do what the fuck it likes.
