The what's going on in Thrash thread

Record Company trying to capabilities on sales I would imagine. I'll stick up for Chuck and the boys :)
Blame all around! :)
Seriously. Catacombs is worthless. I wasn't impressed when it opened shows and I 'm not impressed with it as a closer to the album. If you're gonna make an instrumental, make a real one. And I've had enough of the black metal shit that's been creeping in.

The biggest problem I had with that "extra" was the live show. Give the fans a show that is applicable to the album. (That's what makes me think it's a record company decision.) Given the age of the show and the number of live shows being released now chances are the show or one like it is already on YT and buying the audio when you can get the same tour as a vid on YT is hardly a convincing seller.

HOLY FUCK BALLS!

Bands are always saying they make money from live shows and not music sales. Well it appears that's about to get a whole lot harder.

I understand everyone is struggling now. I also see LiveNation are claiming they've struggled because they got rid of workers and are cutting costs, (although lets face it the workers they got rid of would not be the high paid fat arses that sit in the big chairs), but geezus this is ridiculous. The T&C's they are going to write into new contracts are nearly worse than any record company could write into a record deal. Fair enough some of these conditions aren't new, but the costs involved are.

There is one question I've had for a while that's been answered. See the condition about filming, it appears the bands not only have to say yes but they do not own the rights to the footage, it's owned by the concert promoter

I'm sure a show with that exact set list is on youtube in a few different places. They should have packaged it with a shirt or something else like that.

When you look at that LiveNation contract obligations for bands to play a gig there is potentially a shitload of videos of the same set in different locations out there. The label could probably have made it a live DVD not just a live CD.

Wow.
That is fucked. Bet their CEO still gets a nice bonus.
So the promotor owns their show? The music industry is fucked up.

The promoters have always had bands by the short and curlies. Even in this country where we had a certain promoter (who has been praised for his effort by everyone from the industry to the Prime Minister), who insisted all contracts where signed with ink on the line and a line on a mirror didn't fuck bands over that badly.

I can see expenses going out the window and there will probably be all sorts of rules for covid-safe concerts that cost money. I can even accept (to some degree) that ticket prices will rise and the bands won't see the rise, but some of those conditions are just straight out shit.

Gary (and others) are speaking out, and rightly so. I know they can't afford to blacklist Live Nation but they should.
$15 Billion Live Nation was worth in Feb and this pandemic hit them so hard it wiped them back $10 Billion, but just as you start feeling soooo sorry for them take warmth knowing that they are back up to $12-13 Billion this month. It's no wonder they are needing to cut the bands back.
