I haven't had the chance yet. They are one band I never really got into. I always got the impression that they were just a bit too straight up metal/hard rock. I forget what movie they are the band in, but it didn't seem thrashy. But I'm always ready to change my mind. Because I have nothing against them. They are for sure a great band.
Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The world needs really good bands that do that. But when I get the time to listen to music I want thrash...almost always. They definitely aren't thrashy, although maybe the odd song borders on it. They are more NWOBHM than thrash, but that style really suits JB's vocals and they have some powerful and heavy stuff in their back catalogue. It's just that they don't change much, and I don't think they've ever changed their style for a full album, just a few songs here and there.
Haha, I remember we were all screaming bloody murder when that happened. I loved that they got on. I thought, oh you mother fuckers are gonna see what a real band sounds like now! I was happy.
Haha is it on that disc on remakes?

Well if you're going to ruin it for everyone do it in a big way!We usually had to wait a week or so to get those American award shows on TV back then so we'd heard who won and who lost before actually seeing it. It meant we didn't need to yell at the TV because we knew all the annoying bits were coming.I also believe we didn't get the metal part broadcast here because they showed an edited version of the show to fit it into what was probably a 2 hour time slot.
Not long before the Tull/Metallica fiasco we had a local awards show paid for by one of those shitty weekly TV magazines that thought they were cool by reporting on local bands. All bands were suppose to mime and of course there was no naughty words to be said on air. But one of our really popular pub bands, notorious for loud, fast rock and not following rules refused to play unless it was live. Because they were so popular and would drag in an audience the producers agreed but didn't realise how pissed off the band was with the authority the producers were wielding and the lies the promoting mag was publishing. The band reworded an entire verse with derogatory, angry words against the producers and the mag and dropped fuck into the last line, then proceeded to trash the entire stage, instruments and set. There was no live 7 second to air delay back in those days and by the time the producers realised what was happening and got the stage curtain down there was broken instruments and amps everywhere and the lead singer was screaming into the mic loud enough that when the mic was shut off you could still hear him from backstage over the distortion from the broken amps and guitars. No band ever got to play live on that awards show again.![]()
I got like 30 seconds in and had to stop, but I liked it so far. I have to finish it later. The problem with AS is that they have about 10 albums out, it might even be more, and it requires time to go listen to and find the gems. They are good, they are solid but like any band not every song can be great so unless you're a dead set fan with every album you'd have to go through each one to find a 'best of' that would be the sort of thing you'd want to listen to from time to time.

No kidding? What year were they on?Yeah that's pretty much what the band has said for the last 30 years when asked about it. In some ways that it was a good thing because by the mid to late 90's both bands and producers had learned to stop shitting on each other. While that particular awards show died the death it deserved what followed because of it was so much better. The 7 second delay to live shows helped but what helped the most was that the television industry learnt that music and especially live music could drag in viewers which for free to air tv was what paid the bills. Metallica even appeared live on one of our Saturday morning shows at 9am after a gig the night before!!
New song is pretty good.I would never call Armored Saint a Thrash band and yes Bush belongs right where he is and while I can fully appreciate his material with Anthrax to me I just have respect for him with the Saint as I am an old fucker and really like their back catalogue. As for the new track, I agree it is a solid tune but not to take anything away from the band but let’s face it...........DAVE PRICHARD IS GONE!!!
Oh but it was supposed to prove that getting rid of Joey was the right decision...For his time with Anthrax I really only like White Noise and We've Come For You All. I respect the guy for what he did because I don't think it would have been easy following Joey but there really wasn't anything great about Anthrax between about 1995 and 2002. His effort on The Greater Of Two Evils was okay but I agree with him when he says it's an album that shouldn't really have been made, there was no need for it.
I think it would have been interesting if he'd released an AS album while in Anthrax. It would have shown just where his strengths were.
