The what's going on in Thrash thread

There ya go. I know you've been waiting with baited breath for it. Well now you have a sneak preview (all 3 pages) of Jnr's new book. Marvel in the world's latest best seller no one knew we needed. On the upside it appears Thom isn't involved :)
(Shit, I didn't realise it would embed in the post, oh well that's what links are for. In case you're wondering, no I didn't read it.)

I just read about as much as I care too! Thanks!

We're sharing excuses lol. Oh and In don't have FB :)

FF still has a few issues with plug ins and how much they slow the program down, but that can be as much the fault of the plug in author as FF. In general I find that it does run well but there are still some sites out there that designed for Chrome (much like many used to only design for IE) so therefore the odd site doesn't have full functionality. But it doesn't happen everywhere.

That's not a good enough excuse for not reading FB :P

Yeah I'm not even sure that I would bother reading it if I got a free copy. For me Jnr is on a sliding scale, everything new he releases seems just a little but worse than the previous thing. I think by not reading the book I'm stopping myself getting to a point where I just hate everything the guy does. This really feels like an exercise in self publishing for the sake of it and I rarely read self published efforts from well known established writers, let alone a first time with zero experience in the field.

I've always been a big fan of Jnr's but lately I've really been getting tired of him. I think it's overexposure. At least for me. I'm sure that will change once Megadeth gets rolling again and everything isn't Jnr.

Yeah and the worst part of it here was that government departments spent years supporting only IE. Every script we wrote, every applet we wrote and every website page we controlled had to support IE only. Didn't suck too badly for us because we wrote a lot of it in a Unix backend, but it still sucked that they only supported one browser. By default most stuff worked cross browser but the help desk staff were told to ask people if they were running IE, if they weren't to try it and if they refused there was no more help to offer. Now they seem to have jumped the same way with Goggle.

Yeah it's definitely over exposure. We've been waiting for a new Megadeth album for a long time and his solo stuff just isn't curing the wait. I know I have a dislike for the guy lately because of his reluctance to do things without Thom, but it's more than just Thom because I do groan just a little bit every time I see Jnr offering up something else that isn't Megadeth.

Bloody hell!! Santa has a lot to answer for. I can't see the dinning table for boxes marked Nintendo. They are bloody everywhere. I don't even know what is in half of them but the way I understand it the Jolly Fat Man might well be giving these presents but it's me that has to set them up so they work on the day. I tell you Santa is getting a bit slack in his old age!!

I have no experience on the support side but I think everyone here used it too because nothing ever worked!

Our governments have always had contracts with MS. It took them years to update software. They'd get latest updates of Defender and IE etc but they always run operating systems way longer than home users. Most gov departments here were still running Win7 desktops when MS stopped supporting Win7 for the home user. They prefer to run older software and pay a premium for priority support home users don't get than jump too early into a new operating system, despite the fact that Win10 had been out for about 8 years before they started migrating machines. It's kind of a safety net thing, but it makes them look inept as well.

This shit is all new to me. My wife has had consoles since they first came out, the kids have had a multitude of DS's but I've only ever played a few games on them and ignored everything else. My only claim to fame is that I had the original Donkey Kong dual screen before it was available in this country.

I've pulled a few DS's apart and fixed them, I've even made two PS2's into one working PS2, but really not played much on them. I'm not a huge gamer but when I do play games it's usually on the PC so I'm looking at all this Switch stuff and wondering what the fuck it all does. My wife keeps saying, "we need to put this on here, and that on there, and here's a button cover that makes the buttons look cute." And I'm just sitting there staring at her like she's talking Chinese!

I just put screen protectors on them, what a fiddly annoying job that is. Thank fuck I don't have to do that on my 36 inch gaming monitor :)

I really can't keep up with Nintendo, it seems like they put out something new every 6 months. I don't think I knew there was dual screen of Donkey Kong?

I wish I could do cool electronic fixer thing tricks!

It sounds like she tricked you into buying something that has unlimited customization that of course the kids will just have to have lol.

Game and watch Dual screen circa 1982 is the first and only DK I ever knew. The kids keep telling me DK drives a cart in Mario Cart but all I see is a blur as they all pass me :P

I can't do everything. Undoing screws replacing board, screens etc is about as far as I go. I don't get down to component level and replace parts. My Dad used to do that with TV's and he even had a job fixing pinball machines, but even he doesn't get that far into fixing things these days.

She didn't even have to trick me, she said we were buying the Switches and I agreed. I didn't ask what all the boxes were, I didn't ask why they were needed. I just let it happen. It's more like she played my ignorance perfectly :)

New song from Virginia based thrash/crossover band Enforced. New album coming in the new year.
I didn't mind their first album and after a brief listen to this I don't hate it but will have to listen better later.
