Another one for "I don't know why I need to know that" file.
I heard this morning that Wuhan, the place now known as the home of covid (no matter how it came about) used to be known for two other things. Entertainment venues where shows of all kinds were put on and music, especially Chinese Punk music. Apparently these bands, bands I've never heard of and probably wouldn't listen too, played regular gigs and recorded regularly. But they were full on punk, the wild gigs, the jumping and thrashing on stage and the anti government messages were all part of it. Then the government started to regulate the industry, they got sick of all the songs with anti-government messages and government hate and the passed rules that all albums had to be reviewed and regulated before hitting the market. After than bands realised they no longer had a 'punk' voice and most just stopped playing.
