The what's going on in Thrash thread

Holy shit man! What a cluster fuck! I don't understand how that shit happens after over a year of doing this stuff. That's insane. I feel your pissedoffness!
Oh if he were still in charge of this. He and his whole retarded white house still be denying it and we'd probably be in worse shape then you.

No one can understand how it has happened again. People are pretty reserved to the fact that the virus will escape quarantine at some point, but to get to this point where they are shutting down for a full week, the fourth lockdown we've had, is pushing people beyond their limits. Lockdown itself is not that hard but it's going to cost the state more than a billion dollars and while it's easy to say lives are worth more than money the problem is there are thousands upon thousands who wont be able to afford rents and mortgages this week and the government is offering nothing.

I think this proves incompetence at the highest level comes in a variety of ways. Trump fucked things up early and it cost the country big time, our fuck wits watched all that and said "not us", then brought their own level of incompetence into play so as not to be left out.

I hope so!
Here's what I'm thinking about now that relates.
Can you imagine how low morale is at the Megadeth camp?! Here's Kiko and Dirk who grew up with Megadeth and Jnr means the same to them as he does to us. He's Jnr! And all we've read over the past couple years of the album being worked on is.- Jnr has been working with Kiko in the studio, Jnr has been working with Dirk in the studio. Jnr has been working with the guys in the studio. Mustaine has never even been part of that equation. At least not from anything I've read.
Jnr is the guy that's been there. He's the guy they've played all these shows with. He's the guy that probably made them feel comfortable. The founder that isn't so serious. The guy that went out of his way for people (Mustaine rarely does that) and just plain the guy that everyone likes.
Now all of sudden the entire dynamic has changed and all they are left with is Dave. And his loyalty to people really sucks.
Not to mention the staff and crew!

You make a good point. I don't think Kiko or Dirk were ever under the impression that they were anything more than the current hired guns, shit if Jnr kept up the "worker bee" attitude the other two surely didn't think they were anything more. But they were still a unit and they were a unit that worked together seemingly without Mustaine present. I'm sure neither Kiko or Dirk will make a stand against Dave and say 'bring him back or I leave' because they know Mustaine wouldn't listen, but I don't think it would be unfair to say they'd be less than happy with how things have panned out.

I'd like to think that Mustaine (and this 'management' he talks about who make the decisions) have misread this completely but history tells us that even when Dave is wrong he's not actually wrong.

Fuck! Well I looked at the email again and it says it's ready and will be shipped in a few days...who does that?! What a freakin tease!

You really gotta wonder what page of the good customer service book that helpful information is on. It's coming from the EU somewhere isn't it?

He doesn't seem to want to take a lot of responsibility here. He put that video out there and is now seeking to sue someone (a teenager?) for releasing it. Once you put it out there, you don't have the right to control what people do with it. It's not a commercial product or intellectual property. The responsibility begins and ends with Dave himself. The lawsuit it a huge deflection. It was leaked by someone who was not ever in a relationship with him, so the idea of it being "revenge" is ludicrous. He keeps trying to deflect instead of giving a complete mea culpa, which should be his only response to this whole thing.

That's not how I, or the courts, read the information presented. You do have the right to control your own video, no matter what the content, and as creator you retain any copyright which can't legally be breached. Unfortunately you don't have the ability to control it, but you still own the copyright as if it was an instructional video or movie or film clip. Whether it's morally right or wrong to make such videos is a different story and once they are out there they are hard to contain so one really should err on the side of caution, but from what I read he did not share it.

Two consenting adults did what they did, one of those shared what they did with a friend and the friend released the video to the world.
Sharing is not implied by two consenting adults having the same vision. The girl therefore has possibly broken the law by sharing it to her friend and the girl is the one who first claimed her friend reposted it with the derogatory comments about her being underage as some kind of revenge. Hence it's now become revenge porn and Dave is fully entitled to follow that path. Sure it's a deflection but he's also admitted he made a mistake and what he did was something he regrets and he's said that from the very first press release.

I've seen someone say it online before, and I think it needs to be said. Dave is "nice", but something is wrong upstairs with him. I say this not just as a result of this incident, but by many other things before. He went to seminary to become a pastor/priest but can't stop dropping f-bombs in public interviews? He curses even more than Mustaine. Not too bright, to say the least. He bought Combat Records for reasons I can't fathom, as he doesn't actually own the back catalog and isn't releasing anything on there that would make Combat fans happy anyway. None of his plans seem to make any sense.

Yes in many interview he does come off a bit stupid and some of his photos look so goofy he should be in a padded cell with a jacket that does up at the back, but none of that changes the fact that once the video left the girls hands Jnr became the victim. As for the Combat thing do you actually read the articles or just headlines because it's been clearly stated heaps of times why he bought the name and not the catalogue. It was pure nostalgia, he wanted to own the name because of what it meant to him. And the reason he didn't buy the entire back catalogue was because it wasn't for sale. The full deal is outlined in the appropriate places but Jnr and his crew did alright out of Combat even if they aren't releasing bands like Combat might have once had because rebirthing the brand as it was, was never his plan.

if I was him I would look into a career change.

It is sad what has happened with Ellefson. I hope he lands on his feet and finds a good career and is able to mend his relationship with his wife. I've always thought he was the single best bassist in thrash metal.

Having said that:

KK's Priest doesn't want Ellefson. They have no money to pay him, and will always hire a young person who will not mind the low pay and see the association with the band as a career boost.

Ditto for Megadeth.

I'd like to see Kelly Conlon from Death/Monstrosity get the gig but I think they want a 30 year old who'll play bass with a pick and put up with whatever comes out of Mustaine's mouth.

I don't think any established band who could give Ellefson decent money can afford to hire him with this scandal and its related controversy overshadowing whatever they are trying to promote. I hope I am wrong though and he finds a good gig but if I was him I would look into a career change.
Well which is it? He put it out there? Or someone else leaked it?
And firstly, you say teenager like it was illegal. It wasn't. 18-19 maybe a teenager but they're legal adults. He was wanking off to this chick who by her own statement initiated it and was never underage. Jnr didn't even know he was being recorded. She shared it with someone she trusted and they put it out there. Now I'm assuming his lawyers have decided the course of action to take. A bunch of celebrities have sued people under the title of Revenge Porn. I've even seen some cases of real people doing it.
I think putting out a statement is taking responsibility for it. What do you want? It's between him and his wife. Nothing was illegal, just a bit immoral to some.

A swearing Pastor? So..a cool Pastor lol. I've never heard Jnr preach anything. He seems very mellow and understanding about religion. I think one of the problems is people still have this antiquated stereotype of what religious people have to be.

What options do Kiko and Dirk have? If they had never been in Megadeth there names would never have been uttered here. What gigs can give them more exposure and better pay at this point?

The only people Mustaine has fired that I think he was really wrong about:
Lee Rausch (Dave was a violent, drunken idiot at the time)
Jeff Young (cocaine-induced paranoia from Dave)
Chris Broderick (stupidest firing in Dave's history)
Shawn Drover (he was doing a good although not great job and gave no reason for firing, helped co-write one of the best modern Megadeth songs "Headcrusher")
MAYBE Menza but I think Menza had serious drug/alcohol problems and might've deserved to get canned
Dude. Sean Drover and Chris Broderick both left the band. They did not get fired.

Reminds me of Last Man Standing with Tim Allen. Every time I see Bill Engvall as the priest I laugh, if he was a priest I'd consider going back to church :)

So the problem is you don't have enough vaccine when you get down to it? I mean wtf. I mean hell. You can walk off the street here and get it at the grocery store. Tell us to give it to you! We're giving it to a bunch of countries!
We are having that same problem with the rents right now. The money isn't going where it's really needed and in a lot of cases people don't even know the aid is available. And I think deadlines are approaching.

Given that the vaccines don't actually stop you getting it, they just lower the symptoms and slow down contagion they aren't the be all and end all that would fix things, they would help but not fix things. The problem here is that quarantine is a Federal issue (the Australian government) were as vaccines and health are a state issue but neither the states or the federal governments will agree with each other. Like your Democrats vs Republicans we have Liberal and Labor and they can never be seen agreeing. So while not every decision made is a bad one they are too busy trying to make themselves look like the heroes to actually make good decisions. In this country team politics is no longer about what's right or wrong, or good for the country, it's which part has the loudest voice.

In this country the Federal government hand out welfare, so given we supposedly had this under control and people were getting jobs back they cut covid welfare support. Now one state goes into lockdown instead of them announcing welfare they cry that the Federal government should do it. They now reckon a week lockdown is going to cost more than a billion dollars and the state government announced before they will offer $200K in welfare payments. And they wonder why people are pissed off.

Yeah me too. I'm not gonna lie I'm getting nervous.

Yeah I'm guessing even if he went home on the Sunday he was supposed to getting on the net isn't a priority but I've also lost track of which Sunday he was suppose to go home so I can't remember if it's been 1 week or 2.

Lol! Yeah!

I really do laugh at all the people who constantly bring up Jnr's role as pastor as if it means anything. I know the churches have a lot of sins hidden in them and it's never a topic I want to openly discuss but what Jnr did on video has nothing to do with his role as pastor. Realistically even his role as husband and father has fuck all to do with him doing the one handed shuffle. Sure people can run around going on about how immoral it is for a pastor to have his dick out or cheat on his wife but none of it means anything to anyone except maybe his minions (sorry I couldn't think of the word for people who listen to a pastor) and his family. Bringing up it as if it means something to matters at hand is as pointless as adding grooming to every article.

Did you read the book about Rust in Peace? It's covered in there.

They were fired to make way for a possible RiP reunion when Megadeth changed management back to their old manager.

They were told they would not be paid for A YEAR and then MAYBE they could come back or maybe not.

I think in any job that is tantamount to being fired. They then "quit" publicly as people often do to save face.

Like I said before, neither of those guys deserved to be let go.

Oh yeah I don't think they'd take a stand and I wouldn't suggest they do lol. As for Dave, Nobody is ever safe is not really a band attitude I'd wanna project!

Yeah the "management" :p

Man you are on fire with using his words against him . Don't make him angry... again.

Then why did Mustaine say he was so happy with the band and never wanted them to leave? Going on about how much he liked the line up and Chris was his Randy Rhoads. Until that is the next line up. Then it was right under the bus with them. Both Chris and Sean have stated they left. In many interviews. I have never heard otherwise. First Sean and when Chris found out he left too. Because they wanted to write.
That RIP reunion was never going to happen and they knew it.
Hmm which side to believe...

Edit: couldn't stand Drover. I almost got banned from the Megadeth forum for saying if he loved Megadeth so much he should leave. Good ridance
