The what's going on in Thrash thread

And they don't take any bands out that really deserve the exposure...cause they'd get demolished and all those people would see what real bands sound like live when they aren't living of off pageantry.

They're so lame.

Metallica can still bring it, I saw them back in 2016 or 2017 and was impressed with their performance. They got old though, Haha! Then again, I am not 16 years old anymore either!

I read an interview in Guitar World where Kirk or James talked about opening for Ozzy in the 80s and they would play Black Sabbath tunes during sound check hoping that Ozzy would come out and talk with them. Metallica could help bring metal back to the masses, but like you said, maybe they fear the competition!

I think they go thru phases where they do bring it a little more then other times. But I haven't really heard anything good in decades. To me they get by on giving a spectacle more than being a tight band that can really do the old stuff justice. In my opinion they were definitely the worst sounding band on those Big 4 shows. It wasn't even close for me. But Metallica did have the best sing a longs.
Yeah. Lol. I remember them talking about the Sabbath stuff. Pretty funny. They could do so much for these bands that really deserve it.
But they don't.

I hadn't heard they were giving away spectacles, is it because they are old and their fans are too?
And after years in the music industry I'm not sure any of them would be tight!
Oooohhh, oops I didn't mean to say that out aloud!
I'll get back in my box and shut the lid now!

Hehe, sorry!
I do tend to agree that they don't seem as tight as they used to, although I haven't seen them live since AJFA. They can put on a reasonable show but the old thrash songs don't seem to have the same vigor they started with. I've heard other bands do Metallica songs with more balls.

Hey, speaking of balls and Metallica songs, Miley Cyrus's version of Nothing Else Matters was released :)

I mean. Ok forget Hetfield making the crowd sing most of the song. Forget his singing of things that shouldn't be sung. Forget his yodeling. Forget that Lars has his kit stripped down so much that he couldn't play the songs right even if he could keep time. Forget that Kirk can't play most of his old solos and spends more of his time throwing his arm up like he's a badass then he does playing. And makes the same mistakes he has for 30 years...where was I going with this? :p

I got recommended an Ellefson bass instruction video on Youtube last night. It looks like it's from the 90's. And wouldn't you know the fist group of posts are all ripping on him. These dbags actually sought out Ellefson vids just to make their stupid jabs. FFS. It's like grown ups turn into teenagers on the internet.

You left out Crabman :P

Lars' kit looks like it's stripped down for this 'open plan' stage show they've been using. Whether he can play or not he seems to want to be one of those drummers that isn't just stuck on a riser and never seen. I could be wrong, he could just be shit, but I think he also likes being the centre of attention.

Yeah the pricks are everywhere. It shows just how much life some people have.
One thing I was surprised by is the Blabber article about Billy Sheenan taking Jnr's spot. (I know he says he wont.) Competent or not, plucker or not, he's not a name I would have thrown in the ring for a possible gig.

That kits been stripped down for a while, not just recently. Seemed like every new tour it got smaller and smaller lol. And for sure he wants attention. But he had plenty before, they devoted whole stories on his faces back in the day :D.

I was hoping you'd mention crabman!

They have had that weird stage set up for a while too, but I don't know which came first.

I don't want to pick on Crabman he might send the Mexican cartel after me!

It's crazy the way people are piling on. I have no life either. I guess I'm just a decent human?

Yeah! I love Billy but that is way out of left field (can't believe I just used a baseball ref) I would never ever think of him. Although he did play at some show. Was it Metal Allegiance? and he played some thrash and he said he was really surprised at how difficult it was. Maybe they interviewer was thinking of that?
