Yes, I think the drumming and frankly that by-the-numbers Andy Sneap production brings it down. I also think the intro to the album sounds like generic Iron Maiden-ish noodling. Other than that I think it's amazing.

Second time the kid has played with ST and he's only 17. Not a bad effort at all. The footage of him on stage that I saw wasn't really good enough to see eveything, but good on him. His dad should have stayed with ST rather than chasing the money!

Anthrax posted this on their FB page with a comment about joining the stellar line up. Took me ages to actually find their name on the bill, I'm still trying to find something stellar about the line up. Perhaps Scott and Charlie are going to don Devo hats in support of these stellar gigs!

Seeing that lineup makes me feel like I am out of touch with the pop music scene. The real question is whether Anthrax's setlist will be lamer than the lineup of bands they are playing with?

I don't mind being out of touch with pop music, but I don't even know if half the bands listed there are pop music, I've never near of half of them. Anthrax will play 15 different versions of I'm The Man to fit in!

It's got to be the producers fault though, after all the band work on the songs, write them, refine them, play them, then they just hand over the songs to the chosen producer and he/she does whatever they want no questions asked. I bet the band doesn't even listen to the songs once they've played the last note, so it can't be their fault.

I do wonder if it's a case of "it's been so long we'll play anywhere" or whether it's "no one has invited us anywhere we better take what we are offered".

Yeah, that was a great one and the exception to the rule. Generally these days he has terrible drum tones which just don't work well in thrash. His Accept albums sound good.
I'd definitely take Sneap over Juan. And Sneap playing guitar in JP is just blasphemy and shows that they are little more than a Halford solo band at this point.
