I work in a lab where I decapitate specimens and dissect the heads, remove the brains, stain them with bodily fluids, and examine the concentrations of their constituents to determine the severity of their neurological pathology. I regularly handle beta-mercapthanol, chloroform, and a mixture of paraformaldehyde, gluteraldehyde, and sodium calcium carbonate buffer. We lack windows or ventilation with the exception of our fume hood. If I'm lucky, I leave with only a few new stains of blood and chemicals on my lab coat, and a lesser number of burns (chemical, electrical, and heat) and razor cuts. Also, I constantly smell of latex. I love lab work.
