I have heard some flak about the band line-up in some forums, yet everyone knows that's to be expected. If we didn't have different tastes the "one" band would play every year. >~ I personally think you did a wonderful job this year. Giving Vanden Plas a second chance was bold, but I think it will pay dividends as well judging by their live reviews.
I was also shocked at Rage being a headliner as I really don't know much of their material, but as I dug into some of their stuff, I think I will like this band. They make a bunch of noise for a three man band. Their drummer commands his set and the music is very vivid with an Accept type quality.
Balance of Power smoked me at PP2.0 as an opener and after listening to Redemption, it looks like I might get blown away by these guys too if they can give a good live set. I was really impressed by them and just ordered their CD. I expect them to be one of the "darlings" of the show.
I am also happy you brought back SX. Though this band has the same name as the PP2.0 version, they have moved from a neo-classical style to a progressive one and sound quite different. I quite like the change and can't wait to hear them again.
Thanks for bringing great metal to a metal-starved South. Keep up the good work and you can expect me to continue being a patron as long as you continue promoting these great events. Keep up the good work,
Bryant
