Hey all :)

If someone wanted to get into Thrash, from the beginning of the genre up to today, what bands would you suggest they listen to? Who originated the genre? Who is keeping it going? Who're the leading lights?

Discuss :p

Metallica's first 3... AJFA was still Thrash, just a bit detatched, semi-proggy...

Testament... they will be forever gods, with the best thrash vocalist ever...

If one would consider Pantera thrash (as I do), Cowboys From Hell and Vulgar Display of Power are great...

Coroner for skillful stuff...

Sodom and Kreater for PURE black thrash...

The bands named above are all great for the genre (and definitely its leaders) but I think that right now the best "modern" thrash bands are The Haunted and Aura Noir (black/thrash and not so new, but great nonetheless)

wow... somebody else know them? you are so welcome!!;)

ps: cant wait to go home and listen to 'First Depression'

I could say the old Slayer... , but I have to say that last week I was on a DESTRUCTION and KREATOR gigs, and they keep doing the fucking true 80`s thrash metal.......!!!!!!!!!!!

Originator of the genre-Metallica Imo

if someone want's to get into thrash these are some of the bands they should check out Metallica (Kill Em' All, Ride The Lightning, Master and Justice)

Slayer (Reign in Blood), Anthrax (Among The Living) Exodus (Bonded by Blood) Megadeth (Rust In Peace) Testament and Sepultura

Bands that are continuing the tradition

Kreator (Extreme Aggression, Coma Of Souls, Violent Revolution)
Terror 2000 (Slaughterhouse Supremacy)
Holochaust and The Crown (all cd's)

For sure Slayer....Testament......Exodus.....1st 3 Metallica.....I always liked Exciter back then.....I guess Anthrax and Kreator too.

More recent stuff is harder because there are SO many bands and music styles are different from song to song it seems like....new In Flames is kinda thrash I guess......

Just listen to Testament until the end of eternity.....

CHUCK BILLY IS A GOD!!!
THE BEST metal singer of all time. Period.
