... Spread the Fire is their first album, not their first release.

Why wouldn't we count demos and EPs? I've already seen a few of them posted anyway.

Outside of the title track for Born of the Ruins, none of those tracks were released on any of their albums. Same goes for the first FBF release. So i don't see why they shouldn't be included.

I haven't personally been posting demos but I'm fine with it. EPs I post a lot of. I'd prefer not repeating things though, like if the same songs are on a demo, EP and LP, then just post one of them.

I'd say yeah include it in cases like this.

Although including demos opens up a whole lot more searching to do. Seems like a lot more work. The thing about demos too is that not many people really listened to them in the year they were released. Not hugely influential to the development of thrash like a full length or EP might be.

And it would mean we missed Vektor's 2004 demo heh.

Well a lot of those "demos" are actually EP's.

All that shit doesn't matter anyway because im counting releases. For example, Heal a Million was Hexens first album, later on they started calling it a demo, and then polished up and released most of the songs on State of Insurgency. Who gives a shit what they felt ike calling it. That's like saying we wouldn't be counting Metllicas No Life 'til Leather as one of the first thrash releases. A lot of bands released "demos" and just didn't fuck with EPs.

ep/lp/demo meant something back in the heydays. back then, demos almost always were on tape, used inferior recordings, had song differences, etc.. the gap in quality was usually pretty big between them, sometimes even betweens eps and demos.
the distinction has been blurred in the past 15 years because of the ability to produce cdrs and the ability to make cheap self-released presses.

anyways, have fun finding more thrash for us, baroque.
lets move on.

Yeah finding these is easy! One quality band after another. Thrash is back in full swing in 2005. Maybe 2004 as well. So there were pretty much 10 slow years 1993-2003 it seems. Although 1993, and 2003 had a moderate amount of quality releases too. I'd say those were the transition years. I'll keep going though because it's fun discovering more bands.

Pretty much done searching through 2005. I'll give it another scan through later, then moving on.

Encyclopedia Metallum seriously needs to get their genres sorted out. Tons of 'thrash' bands are actually Groove or Prog bands on there. As well as the crust punk mentioned above. Anyway moving on. Some Koreans which I can understand have more than a few reasons to be pissed off:

Mahatma - The Endless Struggle Against Time
