Thrash!

no? bands like iron maiden and english dogs had a lot of influences from punk and hc. but now i'm confused cuz i don't know if every nwobhm band had the same influences.

:ill:

No...

NWOBHM started in the mid to late 70s with bands like Angel Witch and Diamond Head, largely taking influences from Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Deep Purple. It was largely indeed in opposition to the emerging punk scene, which took away a lot of the momentum that the NWOBHM movement was generating at the time, as black blood mentioned. Iron Maiden's early material's "punkish" vibe really only comes through due to Di'Anno's vocal approach. The music is soundly founded in traditional Metal aesthetics, whereas English Dogs isn't really part of the NWOBHM movement, but more Speed influenced, like Warfare.

yep, i got it. but without the emergengy of the punk scene, some heavy metal bands would not created this movement.

Why do I have the strange gut feeling that you already have a ton of Thrash stuff...?

Haha you are kind of wrong there. I have the basics early slayer, early sodom, early kreator,Overkill,Destruction,Cryptic Slaughter,Death Angel, and Vio-Lence. I just need some more modern stuff like Toxic Holocaust.

By "this" movement I hope you mean "Thrash Metal."

nope. i mean that without the emergency of the punk scene, some heavy metal bands would not created a movement against the punk.

the punk scene was the reason for some heavy metal bands have created the NWOBHM, did ya understand? i'm not talking that the punk scene had influenced any heavy metal band. punk scene had just provoked the birth of the NWOBHM against then.

NWOBHM wasn't a movement against punk, it was just in opposition to punk. NWOBHM would have existed regardless of whether or not punk existed.
