Throwing another bone...

Very interesting. I was hoping a few others (or at least 2 repeats) as there are a few bands that just have not been to the US much in the last 5 years and I thought they'd all help the recent ticket sales concerns:

Evergrey
Angra
Vanden Plas
PoS
Blind Guardian

I personally love PoS, but considering their last disc I would find booking them might be a bit of a risk...not to mention how polarizing they are to begin with.

Yeah...
I don't believe that Pain of Salvation will ever be back to the fest. They have become just too polarizing. Just imagine the video announcement. Some of us would be ecstatic but you'd hear just as many boos, F-you's, people giving the finger to the video, or maybe mooning it. If they do get booked I imagine they'd be the last band on Saturday so Glenn would at least be able to tell haters "you can leave before PoS plays without having to miss anything else."

Evergrey would be an ideal choice....Devin Townsend would lead credence to Glenn's other hint

I'm on the fence about coming next year - I may be going to Ireland... However, if Vanden Plas is there - I will give up the trip to Ireland to see them. I am DYING to see these guys live in a great venue and my heart is set on seeing them in Atlanta...

And I am on the Sabaton could totally headline bus - they were f'n PHENOMINAL at PPX

I will admit that, although a fairly possible suspect, I did not for a split second think it would be you. The moment I saw "AngraSUCKS", I figured it would probably be Glenn editing a post and giving me some crap.

I am curious though, Jason. What exactly don't you like about them? By no means am I trying to convert you and make you a fan of the band. I am just curious as to how much you've heard of the band, considering they have a fairly varied discography.

Plus, I was just thinking... People seem to really like my nickname. We've had AngraROX, AngraROCKS and now AngraSUCKS register after I joined the UM forum. I almost think it's time for a change.

Sorry dude, but you're off on the Sabaton thing. They killed last year, even though I say it wasn't the best of the fest. Glenn even said they're a future headliner. I highly doubt they'd come back not as a headliner.

Simon, I agree bro. They killed. They fucking brought the house down. I loved their set. And yes, Glenn said they're a future headliner, but didn't say when. Glenn also posted once (a long time ago, when you weren't a regular on the forum) that Circus Maximus would be a future headliner of ProgPower. He never said when. The same thing happened, people already started thinking they'd be a headliner the following year. I said no, they weren't headlining caliber just yet. They're just NOT BIG ENOUGH. What happened? Circus Maximus came back, and not nearly close to headlining slot.

Sabaton does NOT sells enough tickets in the United States to headline ProgPower. Show me that they do, and I will say otherwise. I really doubt that Glenn would risk booking a band like that as one of his main bands. If he does, I will be surprised, or things will have drastically changed as far as their popularity in this country and their sales.

Could they pull it off (meaning an awesome headlining show)? Absolutely. Would it be awesome and would I be there to headbang the whole set? Definitely. Would they bring people that would otherwise not come to ProgPower just because of them? I honestly doubt it.

I see Sabaton returning next year, yes. But possibly as a 5th slot (whichever one is right before the headliner).

I don't know man. To me it's more of a matter of common sense, after all this is a business. I could be wrong indeed, but that's my perception.

What he said. I just don't think we're looking at a headliner in this thread.

In terms of a business sense, I agree with you. They aren't big enough. I actually don't think it is them that is returning though. I just think if they were to come back, it would most likely be headlining. Just my opinion, though them being a 2nd to last band is possible. What they really need to do is attach themselves to some us headlining tour and then see what happens.

My guess is Wuthering Heights. As great as they were at PPV, this is a band that has improved by leaps and bounds with their last two releases. No previous band is more overdue for a second appearance than Wuthering Heights.

They really have improved dramatically in the past few years. I'm not sure they're a band that many people care enough about to warrant a return trip though.
