To The Nameless Dead > The Gathering Wilderness

I picked up The Gathering Wilderness yesterday after the disucssion in that other thread and it's pretty fucking boring.

Derek, you're fired. Please turn in your metal pass at the door before you leave.

Seriously, it's probably not for everyone...some people just don't get it. That's why they're called opinions, I guess.

I usually hate to make comments like that because they make people sound like obnoxious opeth fanboys (thats the argument they always use), but in this case I totally agree. Especially Nemtheanga's vocals. A lotta people hate him, but he's definitely my favorite singer ever.

I should've worded it differently. Opeth fanboys make the mistake of saying "you don't get it" when they mean "you don't understand it". What I meant when I said it was just that the music doesn't do the same thing for derek that it does for me or you. It was not a slight against derek or his tastes in music, just a different strokes for different folks kind of thing.

Nemtheanga doesn't use his regular clean vocals enough anymore. I'd rather have regular clean vocals and regular grim vocals than the grim-shout he's been doing.

my old roommate gave the singer from primordial a bottle of homemade brandy from his village in Kosovo, the oldfashioned bottles that get made with a cross inside them, and he was really touched, on some we Irish understand the struggle shit.

I need to go back to nameless dead, haven't heard it in a while.
