Tool fans

Well, in a kerrang ages ago, apparently one of them says that (compared with slipknot fans) "at least tool fans can read". I get the feeling that maynard's avoidance of people may be due to some deep-seated misanthropy. Which is just plain cool.

Tool are the single greatest band ever (although emperor and opeth come close)...if they think they're better than everyone else, well, y'know, they're right.

I just don't think Tool will rush it. Although AEnima is amazing, after a while, I started thinking that Lateralus is an even better album... In their career, they've only made around 40 songs. And they started back in 1990 or so? I also heard the new APC record was supposed to come out this year, but I also think it's unlikely it would be released so soon... although it may take less time with APC because the songs won't really be prog. rock influenced or anything. Tool albums come out sounding like masterpieces. They also took a lot more time to make. Some bands will release CDs year after year, but they don't feel complete. There are plenty of bands I wish would take their time when it comes to releasing their music... I don't think AIC ever made a masterpiece album, even though I like them a lot. In the back of my mind, I was always hoping for a CD that would be filled with as songs as good as "Would?" and "Rooster." Well, that is kind of wishful thinking anyway... There are lots of band that never seemed to fulfill their potential... And there are some bands that seemed to do it more than once, in my opinion, like Smashing Pumpkins, Opeth, etc.

APC was a good ten years in the making... It was mostly stuff Billy Howerdel came up with while he was producing and jamming in the studio.

I dunno, I think that Dirt (Alice in Chains) is indeed a masterpiece. Every song to me is just... amazing.

I know a lot of people who think Dirt is a masterpiece. I guess I'm odd because my most played AIC CD is Facelift. I like a lot of songs off Dirt and there are none that I truly dislike, but I don't think that songs like "Junkhead" and "Sick Man" are really up to the standards off songs like "Rooster," "Would?," "Angry Chair," etc. Also, some people are extremely partial to "Down In A Hole," and although I like it, I never liked it the way some do... "Would?", however, is one of my favorite songs ever. There are very few songs that can even compete with it, for me personally. Although Layne did manage to do it in one song, Mad Season's "Wake Up." I love that song.
