~ Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
~ Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait

Dream Theater - Images & Words
Anathema - Judgement
Death - Symbolic
Testament - The Gathering
Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse
The Crown - Deathrace King
Metallica - ...And Justice For All
Judas Priest - Painkiller

Ouch... That´s a tricky one. I´m listening to bands of almost every music genre so that´s tuff choices. It´s hard not chosing the album´s that one listen to and think is great right now. But, I´ll give it a try (no particular order of the albums though):

Helloween - The dark ride
In Flames - The Jesters race
Iron Maiden - Seventh son of the seventh son
Lawnmower deth - Billy
Metallica - Master of puppets
Monstrosity - Millenium
My dying bride - The angel and the dark river
Opeth - Blackwater park
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz
Quo Vadis - Day into night (damn that drummer really can use his sticks!)

wow, this really makes me thing incredibly hard. as of RIGHT NOW ( i just got a new haul from the end record and havent gotten to fully listen to it yet)

Children of Bodom -Hatebreeder
Soilwork- A Predators Portrait
In Flames- Colony
DIsarmonia Mundi- Fragments of a Degeneration
Sonata Arctica- Silence
Nightrage- Sweet Vengeance
Iron Savior- Condition Red
Hammerfall- Renegade
Children of Bodom- Follow the Reaper
In Flames- Whoracle................. I think is it, although i can definatley think of many others that should be on that list. Like Opeth's Blackwater Park and In Flames The Jester Race etc. etc.

What are Disillusion like> Is it Melodic death?

They're a huge bad ass mix of so many genres. I'd say they are Progressive Melodic Death/Thrash but even that might be too narrow. They remind me of what Opeth would be if Opeth was thrashy. They have accoustic passages, clean vocals, harsh vocals, keyboards etc. Amazing that three guys did all of it, great musicians.

In no particular order:

Iced Earth - Alive in Athens
Symphony X - Divine Wings of Tragedy
Finntroll - Jaktens Tid
Strapping Young Lad - City
Skyfire - Mind Revolution
CoB - Follow the Reaper
Nevermore - Dead Heart in a Dead World
Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction
Nightwish - Once
Dream Theater - Awake

yeah man, i know how you feel. :puke: there is so much good metal out there its hard to narrow it down. I just picked the albums that i felt represented a particular place I was in musically for a period of time, and of course albums that i played the shit out of, and ones that have influenced me musically.

Not in order:

* Skyfire - Timeless Departure
* Windir - 1184
* Satyricon - The Shadowthrone
* Dream Theater - Metropolis part. 2 (too many memories)
* Scorpions - Still Loving You
* Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
* Amorphis - Elegy
* Blind Guardian - Imaginations From The Other Side
* Helloween - The Best, The Rest, The Rare
* Old Man's Child - Revelation 666

I'm with Neal. I don't think I can do it. But I think I'm gonna try anyway, since I'm bored.

Skyfire - Mind Revolution
Children of Bodom - Hatebreeder
Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Death - Human
Lost Horizon - A Flame to the Ground Beneath
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

I'm done. Can't do any more. Too many that I keep wanting to put in there, thus taking up the space that others deserve as well.

[ARNOLD] STOP WHINING! [/ARNOLD]

Basically to sum it up, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son owns you all.

But yeah it is hard. I tried not to double up, other wise I'd prolly have In Flames - The Jester Race, Maiden - Number of the Beast/BNW, Katatonia - Viva Emptiness

Also honorable mention to Naglfar - Vittra...melodic black metal goodness...... o_O

Disillision- Back to Times of Splendor
Iron Maiden- Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Opeth- Blackwater Parl
Moonsorrow- Voimasta ja Kunniasta
Vintersorg- The Focusing Blur
Ayreon- The Human Equation
In Flames- Jester Race/Black Ash Inheritance
Dream Theater- Tie between Images and Words/Change of Seasons
Skyfire- Spectral
Blind Guardian- Nightfall in Middle-Earth

Here it is... not representative in any way, but these were the albums that made it to print! :)
I decided not to add any albums that were released before 1990...

Dissection - Storm of the Lights Bane
Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence
The 3rd and the Mortal - Tears Laid in Earth
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Obtained Enslavement - Witchcraft
Opeth - Still Life
Gehenna - Seen through the Veils of Darkness
Tori Amos - From the Choirgirl Hotel
Arcturus - Aspera Hiems Symfonia
At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
The Crown - Deathrace King
Embraced - Amorous Anathema
Borknagar - Borknagar

And yes... 14 albums...
I cannot delete four albums from that list... :)

Nice list, I envy in a way those who have a very wide vareity of old and new.

I look at my list and the oldest album is Seventh Son than it goes all the way up to 99' with Projector heh. I think its basically because I got into more extreme metal at the begining of the millenium and these were the albums that were out around that time so most of my pics tend to be in the last 5 years.

Obviously that doesnt mean I own no CD's prior to 2000 or whatever, I just think the ones that impacted me the most were the ones I heard when I was begining to understand and appreciate music better.

In Flames - The Jester Race/The Crown - Deathrace King (true masterpiece)
Amon AmArth - Versus the world and Once send frmo the golden hall
DZ (dimension zero) - silent night fever (real fast and powerfull, just very COOL)
DT - the gallery
norther - dreams of endless war / skyfire - timeless departure
Ceremonial oath - carpet
Killswitch engage - alive or just breathing
Static-X - wisconsin death trip (nostalgic worth)

since I didnt want to double artists, I didnt wrote every singel in flames album... ;)

I'll just list the 10 good ones that come to mind...

Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait
Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
Anathema - Judgement... or perhaps A Natural Disaster.
Katatonia - LFDGD
Moonsorrow - Kivenkantaja
Killswitch Engage - Alive or just Breathing
Testament - The Gathering
Scarve - Luminiferous
Therion - Lemuria and Sirius B
Skyfire - Spectral
Opeth - Damnation
Nevermore - Dead Heart ....
Disarmonia Mundi - Fragments...

that should be about 10 :D
