lol
i didnt actually think that the list itself was all that bad, but the order of it was.
Kreator at no1 is cool with me but no reign in top 10 but having show no mercy there is stupid, having ride the lightning before kill em all is stupid, have AJFA on there is just stupid

Meh. Cool to see Hypnosia and Drunkard in there. They should have kept it at one album per band. It would have added some more variety to it.

Artillery at #18 and Megadeth at #2? Surely, you jest.

It was a nice try though. It did point out a few albums I haven't heard.

and wtf...ranking Holy Terror and Sabbat so low (Sabbat near the end?!)

Byrne from these boards put together the list with the contributers of HailMetal 'zine (of which there are half a dozen or so). Just so yer's know.

I think it's a spiffy list. Sure, Morbid Saint is missing and Artillery are way too low, but the ranking was decided by a handfull of fellows, and not everyone is fully versed in EVERY fucking thrash metal release ever.

They have Punishment for decadence at #3... it's al okay with me (minus the absence of Annihlator)

its a top 50 out of about a squillion releases: i.e. THEY ARE ALL ESSENTIAL LISTENING.

but specifically to some of your queries:

Raven - not thrash metal - NWOBHM
Exciter - Perhaps could be considered thrash metal, but i dont care for them anyway and neither did any of the contributors. we cant cover everything and everyones taste
atheist - death metal maybe?
artillery > megadeth - i think not. a matter of opinion, but 99 times out of 100, you will be out voted. so im not too unhappy with the order.

i also dont see the problem with having more than one album from the best thrash bands of all time on the list, but hey thats just me. i dont see the point in taking stuff like south of heaven off, just so a lesser album can get some publicity.

plus im betting most of the people who have posted here havent even heard all of the albums we listed or 50 thrash albums ever for that matter.

Seriously, RiB is the single most overrated album in metal history. It doesn't need to be no. 1 just because everyone and their dog praises it to the ends of the earth. Hell Awaits is far better.
