black album is supposedly where metallica sold out but even so...it was a good album that produced many of the famous metallica songs...though Enter Sandman is way to overrated and Nothing Else Matters deserves more respect. My personal favorite Metallica album is Master of Puppets though

Hell Awaits is so much better then Show No Mercy. Hell Awaits is actually innovative in 85 in an influencing death metal way along with possessed where show no mercy while being great is just the bands NWOBHM influence and amateurish at best. END

If hell awaits,haunting the chapel,south of heaven, and seasons in the abyss are 'shit' than I guess metal just crumbled in front of me. What next is old morbid angel not good.

The first 5 Morbid Angel cds are nothing short of some of the best death metal albums, and bands like mithras who are influenced by the band to embarassing extents are not 'innovative' or better or worth being mentioned over them.

Mithras are worth mentioning over Morbid Angel quite a bit, sure the Morbid Angel influence is quite obvious but the execution is alot different, not to mention their guitar tone and solos are fucking awesome.

Morbid Angel however, never put out any albums that are close to being the best death metal of all time.

Mithras harmonic riffs rythmn lead tones, and technique's are so derived from morbid angel 'domination' 'ffttf' and even some covenant even the band 'nocturnus' that it's worship. I can actually picture mithras sitting in a dark room listening to morbid angel with candles hoping treys guitar riffs and solos conjure up the ancient ones and demons.

If Mirthras sticks around and does something in death metal than maybe they can start holding the candle to morbid angel.

i dont see how you can sit there and tell someone their opinion doesnt count because they dont like post SNM slayer, when you yourself write off all of megadeth (read: i dont like thrash metal) and all of at the gates (read: i dont like music).

show no mercy is by far the best slayer album. songs like black magic, tormentor, metal storm - face the slayer, die by the sword, evil has no boundaries, final command, fight till death, crionics and the antichrist (i.e. the whole album) bridged the gap from NWOBHM to what you hear in hell awaits. without show no mercy, you dont have hell awaits.

i also agree the black album gets more shit than it deserves, but it is boring for the most part (like ive never actually been able to listen to the whole album in one sitting). but that proves my point - people give it heaps of shit, therefore its not overrated (generally)
