Hell Awaits is so much better then Show No Mercy. Hell Awaits is actually innovative in 85 in an influencing death metal way along with possessed where show no mercy while being great is just the bands NWOBHM influence and amateurish at best. END

You both could not be any more wrong at this moment.

South of Heaven > Show No Mercy also.

Well Show No Mercy is an excellent album but yes it's very immature shall we say. And yes, the next four albums they made are better than it.

Mithras are worth mentioning over Morbid Angel quite a bit, sure the Morbid Angel influence is quite obvious but the execution is alot different, not to mention their guitar tone and solos are fucking awesome.

Morbid Angel however, never put out any albums that are close to being the best death metal of all time.

God dude! Are you insane? It's called "Blessed Are The Sick" and it's one of death metal's greatest albums.

The next person to praise Mithras is going to find me, in their house at 4am, smashing all their teeth in with a fucking lump hammer.

For the last time:

MITHRAS ARE SHIT.

This was a public broadcast announcement brought to you in conjunction with the letter \m/ :kickass:

I was considering praising Mithras just to see how you'd get into my house at 4am. Alas, I'd be betraying myself, since the band isn't all that great.

Morbid Angel after Abominations is good, but not best ever.

To be considered some of the best death metal albums ever, the quality level has to at least be that of Amorphis - The Karelian Isthmus. None of the MA albums aside from Abominations reaches that point.

Idiocy for having an opinion that differs from these "the classics are the best" people?

I fail to see just how that works.

Well, you're the sort of person who is 15 years old and thinks he knows shit about metal just because he downloads 2093 obscure releases on DC++ and listens to each once so he can post huge fucking dumb lists in recommendations threads, and thinks he's being provocative and clever when he claims that mostly undisputed classics like "Reign in Blood" or "Altars of Madness" are shit or overrated. Also, you like Pain of Salvation.

(Haha, I just checked your profile, and you really ARE 15 years old. I only guessed based on your post behaviour. Gee)

I miss Morpha :(

Okay, so I do download, yes. However, the majority of what I do download isn't overly obscure, and before I recommend any album I at least listen to it three times to see if it is really worth recommending, and in effect worth keeping.

I'm not saying the albums are shit or overrated because I want to stir up trouble, but rather because I think they are either shit ... or overrated. It isn't that hard of a concept to grasp.

However, it isn't all classic albums that I think are overrated.

I love King Diamond, Carcass, Entombed, Grave, Possessed, Cathedral, Bathory, Burzum, Emperor, and I wouldn't dream of calling any of those bands shit.

However, there are certain bands like Slayer, Iron Maiden (who I do enjoy), Morbid Angel (who I enjoy as well, but not to the extent that some people do), etc. that I find to be overrated, because of one thing ... the music is simply not as good as many people say it is.

If me having an opinion makes me a dumbass, then so be it. I am content with being one. It does not bother me that someone over seas and on an internet messageboard, that I will never see in my life thinks of me as "pretty fucking dumb."

I'll accept that blow against Pain of Salvation as your way of saying I love you.

I miss Morpha :(

Yeah, Ghost is pretty cool.

No, it's because you try really hard to seem knowledgeable

It might not even be CONSCIOUS at this point, you're just spewing the popular things to say ("HURRR KARELIAN ISTHMUS BEST DEATH METAL EVER SLAYER SUX") because you've been fed them so much by people you look up to, but you'll probably change in a few years when you've either "grown out" of metal altogether, or come to realize what a dumbfuck you were when you were 15

Most people go through this phase

Mayhaps that is why, who knows. However, I'm not spewing "the popular things" I'm spewing what I think.

Seeing as I know I will most likely look back and see how stupid I was in some ways, I'll be sure to look back at my time spent here and realize wether or not my opinions on bands like Slayer, Morbid Angel, etc. stay the same. It will be then that I will be able to quite possibly say that it isn't just my age speaking for my preferences, but my fucking legit preferences.

Or I will just realize that since all of this is trivial bullshit, that I shouldn't have bothered to continue with this in the first place.

We've all said he's 15, as well as he, like a dozen times in the past 4 months. If that slipped by you, you're pretty dense.

Anyway, I think he's incredibly intelligent, observant and different from most people at 15 years of age. I think you need to take into consideration that he is 6 years younger than you, and that, like everyone else here, we all have different experiences with music and so our tastes develop differently.

Okay I'll stop sticking up for him now. Or else you all will think I have a crush on him.
