I agree with Opeth - Deliverance being the best of those listed, but it being the most anticpated release of the underground metal scene doesn't mean anything at all...

I know it dosent, i know people arent going to vote an album for best of 2002 if they havent heard it yet, but I was just saying :P

Arcturus is from Norway I think.

that would win for me though

The new Darkane sucks balls.

On that list...I'd vote for Soilwork

Allthough it's a well know fact that the best album released by a swedish band by far this year is of course
Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane :)

My top three would be as follows:

  1. Opeth-Deliverance
  2. Soilwork-Natural Born Chaos
  3. Dark Tranquillity-Damage Done
    [/list=1]

I should also give an honorable mention to Bloodbath-Resurrection Through Carnage which should have been on this list!

Arch Enemy is Swedish. Mike Amott was in Carcass, which was an English band. Angela is from Germany.

Was I the only one to notice that Paradise Lost is on this list? They're English, not Swedish.

Vintersorg's Spiral is fantastic! Steve Digiorgio finally got a good mix for a change and it should show everybody how bass should sound on a metal album. I am suprised how underrated it is. The music so different and fresh compared to most realesed this year. I think it rates right up there with the new Opeth.

Yep...same as if it was on the Dark Tranqillity forum...etc. etc. etc.
