The best albums so far this year...

Ok well after posting above I just got Blind Guardian-"And Then There Was Silence" (their new song) and what can I say except for this is absolutly Brilliant! This album is sure to be great if the rest of it is as good as this song.

that doesnt include some of the mad aussie metal that has come out this year...

1.Katatonia - LFDGD
2.Opeth - BWP

4.Lacuna Coil - unleashed memories
5.Tool - Lateralus
6.Zyklon - world 0V Worms
7.Thorns

other than that im not too impressed with this years albums.

In no particular order:

Opeth - Blackwater Park
Thorns - Thorns
Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun
(not actually released this year, but the 2CD tour edition was, so it sort of counts)
Anathema - A Fine Day To Exit
Spiritualized - Let It Come Down
IEM - Have Come For Your Children
Anaal Nathrakh - The Codex Necro

Hannu Mutanen! How is that Tenhi? I still haven't seen it anywhere around here.

Winter-frost: It is really something even if it is merely a MCD of 17 minutes' length. The folky feeling has actually jumped back in time in terms of feeling; it reminds me more of modern instruments playing shamanistic chants rather than the Ulver-esque stuff they had on "Kauan." Naturally the shamanistic feeling is only a connotation within my head, but the CD really delivers a more meditational, flowing feeling than "Kauan", whereas the latter was more like so-called 'mood music.'

Not in order, as usual

Diabolical Masquerade - Death's Design
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Destruction - Antichrist
Krisiun - Ageless Venomous
Anata - Dreams of Death and Dismay

I'm sure the new albums from Kreator, Sigh, Sodom, and Absu will make this list as soon as I hear them.

Opeth - Blackwater Park
Amon Amarth - The Crusher
Emperor - Prometheus
Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
Arch Enemy - Wages Of Sin
Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait
Iced Earth - Horror Show
