So we are more then half into the year...

what is on your list for the best albums this year.

1.Interpol-Our Love To Admire
A Good Album but not close to the other albums.

2.Rocco Duluca and The Burden-I Trust You to Kill Me
Mind-Blowing band.

3.Spoon-Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
Its spoon what do you expect.

4.Obliteration-Perpetual Decay
Great mixture of old school death metal and brutal death metal

5.Deathspell Omega-Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem
Great Album. The straightforward version of Blut Aus Nord's masterpiece The Work Which Transforms God

Devin Townsend -- Ziltoid the Omniscient
Pretty damn good 7.5/10

King Diamond -- Give Me Your Soul...Please
Meh 6/10

Bad Religion -- New Maps of Hell
Great stuff 8/10

Odious -- Mirror of Vibrations
More great stuff 8/10

I'm yet to hear the new Interpol, but I have heard one song from it, which was good. And I haven't listened to any Deathspell Omega yet either (shock horror!)

The Absence - Riders of the Plague
Dawn of Tears - Descent
Blood Tsunami - Thrash Metal...Let the criticism begin :kickass: I love this album.

I haven't got much music thus far :[

Metal:
Candlemass - King of the Grey Islands
Neurosis - Given to the Rising
Middian - Age Eternal
Machine Head - The Blackening (let the flaming begin:kickass: )
3 Inches of Blood - Fire Up The Blades
Dark Tranquility - Fiction
Threshold - Dead Reckoning
Onslaught - Killing Peace

Non Metal:
Porcupine Tree - FOABP
Brother Ali - The Undisputed Truth
Blue Scholars - Bayani
QOTSA - Era Vulgaris
Redman - Red Gone Wild

Blood Tsunami is utter shite. The Obliteration album is okay. Nothing warranting a status beyond 'good' though.

Some obvious ones:

Alcest
Reverend Bizarre
Lunar Aurora
Demiurg
etc.

Blood Tsunami are so misunderstood...I think that if people didn't take their albums' name so seriously they'd enjoy it.OH WELL.

The Blackening was pretty good, too. I forgot all about Machine Head.

Symfony Ecks - Paradise Lost. Great album, but I was expecting more moments of pure genius.

And other shit.

I'll reply later with a decent idea of what my favourites are. I haven't found a single truly 'outstanding' album but of course there's been some good ones, and I've listened to a large number of albums this year.

The problem is that this year doesn't even compare to last year. Even though its just over half way through, if I had to make a top 50 list from 2006 & 2007, I might include five albums from 2007 on there.

Amen!!! In fact this has got to be one of the worst years for metal since forever!!! Only a few or more stand outs so far what a huge disapointment, I sure hope it gets better within the 5 months that there is left for the year.

Yeah, I had assumed this year would be just as good if not better than last year since more bands I was familiar with and enjoy were releasing albums. Sadly this hasn't been the case with bands like Peste Noire, Behemoth, Sombre Chemin (EP) etc releasing disappointing records. If I had to rate the music I've heard, I would more than hesitate to give an album I've listened to a 9/10.

This year’s best, despite none being outstanding:
Zombie Girl - Blood, Brains & Rock ‘N’ Roll
Marilyn Manson - Eat Me, Drink Me (appreciated but doesn't compare to older albums)
Naglfar - Harvest
Gurtholfinn - The Forest of Long Awaiting (Demo)
Wedard - Eiskreig (EP)
Akercocke - Antichrist
God Module - Let’s Go Dark
Shining - V Halmstad
Dimmu Borgir - In Sorte Diaboli
Graveland - Will Stronger Than Death
The County Medical Examiners - Olidous Operettas
Lunar Aurora - Andacht
Marduk - Rom 5:12
N.I.L. - N.I.L.
Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
Peste Noire - Folkfuck Folie (not bad but disappointing)
Infernal War - Desekration
Sauron - The Channeling Void
Sarpanitum - Despoilment of Origin
Nile - Ithyphallic
Drawn and Quartered - Merciless Hammer of Lucifer (sort of a compilation?)
Requiem - Premier Killing League
Susperia - Cut From Stone

Good/Average Albums:

Monarch - Dead Men Tell No Tales (not as good as last release)
Astarte - Demonized
Throne of Katarsis - An Eternal Dark Horizon
Kalot Enbolot - MCCCXLVII
Lord Belial - Revelation
Pantheon I - The Wanderer and His Shadow
One Man Army and the Undead Quartet - Error in Evolution
Six Feet Under - Commandment
Mayhem - Ordo Ad Chao
Alcest - Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde
Darkestrah - Epos
Dying Fetus - War of Attrition
Thurisaz - Circadian Rhythm

Albums I didn’t care for:
Barastir - Battlehymns of Hate
Rotting Christ - Theogonia
Tulus - Biography Obscene
Profanatica - Profanatitas de Domonatia
Black Funeral - Waters of Weeping
Behemoth - The Apostasy
Graveworm - Collateral Defect
Vital Remains - Icons of Evil
Samael - Solar Soul
DevilDriver - The Last Kind Words
Kittie - Funeral for Yesterday
Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
Acephalous - Divine Purity
Blood of the Black Owl - Blood of the Black Owl
Sombre Chemin - Hétérodoxie: Opus I (EP)...disappointing.
Legion of the Damned - Sons of the Jackal

..and there's a bunch more I've listened to that I haven't mentioned.

Paradise Lost-in requiem
Candlemass-king of the grey islands
Novembers Doom-the novella reservoir
Demiurg-breath of the demiurg
Interment/ Funebrarum - Conjuration of the Sepulchral split.

I still need to hear the new King Diamond,Neurosis, and Reverend Bizarre.

Asunder - Works Will Come Undone
Dark Tranquillity - Fiction
Despised Icon - The Ills Of Modern Man
Devin Townsend - Ziltoid the Omniscient
Funeral - From These Wounds (Released 2007 in the US)
Laethora - March Of The Parasite
This Ending - Inside the Machine

Also, i'd give Nightrage's newest some props because for a band who was so mercilessly boned after Descent Into Chaos, their newest output was pretty decent.

Haven't heard too much so far. I liked the Drudkh 10", and I think DsO is good so far, but not as mind-blowing as expected. Still waiting for Xasthur, Drudkh, and Leviathan to get their new stuff out there.

For non metal, Porcupine Tree was pretty good. Elliott Smith - New Moon was disappointing.

Wait, was Inquisition this year? That was quite good.
