I got a trespassing ticket yesterday. I took off work to spend the day jumping off cliffs at a quarry. It was my 2nd time there and the first time i had no problems. I jumped off the 65ft one and as i was climbing out the water, a cop showed up and took me to the side. Only 3 out of 12 of us got caught but now im getting a ticket in the mail. Fucking sucks but the day was alot of fun.

What are some of your storys for fines and tickets?

I only get speeding tickets when I'm not speeding, and they're a bit of an insult because when I do speed I don't piss around at some wimpy 10 over the limit. It's one thing to lie, but if you're going to accuse me of half-assing something I'm not going to take well to it.

my housemate and i have both been cautioned and arrested on more than one occasion for "cycling under the influence" always fun

When I was 18 some drunk mom was stopped on the highway at night with her lights off and I rear ended her. Her car was fine except for the smashed bumper and she didn't get fined for being drunk or for driving irresponsibly, but I got a Neglegent Driving charge, $1500 fine, my car was totalled, and then she almost successfully sued me for whiplash or something. Fucking pigs.

About 2 years ago, two friends of mine went to a local fest, some kilometres away at the next town. They decided to take their bikes (bicycles) instead of cars because they thought that would minimize the chance of getting a DUI.

Both not the brightest guys...

They got totally shitfaced and decided to ride their bikes back home. On their way they had to go down a rather steep hill where you get some serious speed going.

So the first guy races down that hill and everything's fine but the other dude crashes over a traffic island, completely ruining his front wheel and getting heavily bruised. No way he could ride that bike any further.

First guy didn't notice his crash and went on, just to be stopped by the cops shortly after.

They then did an alcohol test on him and consequently confiscated his driver's license. When they were almost done, the 2nd guy started to slowly appear, totally beat-up, carrying his bike. The cops then told the first guy: "Look at him, that's how you behave when you're drunk: You walk and carry your bike!"

So crashing his bike while being drunk out of his mind actually helped dude Nr. 2 to keep his license. :goggly:

@ chree: Man, that plainly sucks.

... they took his driver's license for bicycling under the influence? What, are they expecting people to want to bike sober? It's understandable to cut down on drunk driving because you might hit someone... but is there really that much concern about people drinking and scuffing someone's new shoes up a bit?

Here in Germany, EVERY traffic participant on public roads is in danger of getting his license confiscated under the influence. Yes, that also includes pedestrians/walkers! Under some circumstances you can even lose the license even though you were just a passenger but the driver was drunk.

However, to get your license confiscated as a drunk pedestrian, you really have to raise hell for that. You'd need to seriously endanger traffic by dancing drunk on a heavily populated street for example.

But yeah, to get into trouble for riding a bike drunk isn't to unlikely. And if you consider that these bikers use the same streets as drivers, it makes sense to put an alcohol limit there.

I don't see how it makes as much sense - the biker is the only one he's going to hurt, unless all German elderly are secretly made of paper and bits of chewing gum and nobody has bothered to tell me yet...

A drunk biker getting hit by a car usually ends rather nasty and might also cause a chain reaction of several accidents. And bikers hitting pedestrians, especially older people, pregnant women and kids, might have rather serious consequences.

Drunk bikers are as unpredictable as drunk drivers and not only endanger themselves but others too.

Having a few beers and then taking your bike usually won't get you into trouble (if you aren't conspicuous) but seriously shit faced bikers have no business being on the streets IMHO.
