Triggering cymbals

Has anyone tried it? I had the thought of "What if you put like a RedShot on a cymbal? Would it only capture when you hit that cymbal and nothing else, like a trigger on a drum?"

There's got to be a decent way...I mean, if bands like Nocturnal Rites are doing full replacement with DFH, they have to be getting a capture and transfering it to MIDI somehow, including the cymbals. Anyone got any insight on this?

If you're going down that road then whats the point of a live drummer in the first place? It'd be quicker, easier and get better results to just program the whole thing 100%

If Noc are doing it, they are most likely just playing electric kits. I've seen them playing them live a few times even.

Yeah, Nocturnal Rites stuff is played on an electric kit. No cymbal triggering going on.
