Triple XXX + Harley Benton Impulses.

So, what's wrong with this?
Never seem able to get a decent sound out of the guitars.

4 guitars. 2 using the crunch channel and 2 using the ultra channel, basically the same settings.

What are you running the impulses in? Can you post a screenshot of the settings you have on whatever is processing the impulse?

Also are you running the signal out of the amps FX loop?

EQ lowcut 80Hz, highcut 13kHz.
Multicomp ala C4.

Strange, It sounds like it's running at the wrong sample rate.
Could you try with the 44.1khz version I included in the archive?:Spin:
Or maybe something went wrong when you bounced the file?

Check if the fx send is set to dry.
Check if Altiverb is set to dry.

Try voxengo afimpulses or Pristine space...they are easy as hell!

Burny: hm. I'll have to check that samplerate. And it's not the bounce.

XeS: what send, in the amp? :S AltiVerb is set with 0 decay. wet .00, dry -144. pre-delay .00

Just tried in altiverb. Everything is fine. Did you change the "Size" parameter (the small pot near the reverb time big knob)? It must be set to 12 o'clock. Otherwise, things get ugly.

Altiverb reported that the sample rate was 96kHz and I was running the project in 44.1kHz, used the supplied 44.1kHz impulses instead. no difference in sound.

I see you are using a Mac. Not many options...
SIR is free but not useable in real time. Too much latency. Offline process could be a quick fix though.

Try the guitarhack's impulses...do the guitars sound the same?
It's very weird...anyway, try afimpulses..

Hell yeah dude! That sounds 100x better, and quite brutal! I can't believe people can actually use the XXX to get results like that!

I think It would be even better with a tad less gain. Do you have an OD in there?

It's a bit muddy due to sloppy playing.
And yeah, needs less gain.
I have a tubescreamer, but a friend used it for a gig last night hehe.
will do another one when I get it home.

funny thing is that I've been struggling getting a good sound out of the xxx for a while. and at last rehearsal I thought, fuck it, and cranked all the EQ knobs and started lowering the areas I didn't like. was quite nice

Used Drumagog or apTrigga to sound replace it.

Run each drum from ezd to it's own track in your daw. Insert your choice of replacement software on the tracks you want replacing as normal.
