Twilight of The Thunder God tragically mastered?

Does it really matter how the album was mastered? The album sounds good, aint that all that really counts?

the idea is that basically these days many major label releases are produced in a way where they just turn everything up and shit, cutting out all the dynamics, and also sometimes as in the case of Metallica's latest compress it to make it even louder, sacrificing sound quality. This makes stuff sound shitty when turned up. With Amon Amarth I don't think there's really a whole lot of dynamics going on; they more or less play loud constantly. The new album sounds good when played loud; why does it matter then that it looks like that in audacity?
