Two questions about V

First of all, I was always wondering... Is it V or a roman numeral of 5?

Okay and the next one:

Who recieved a skipping copy of V and had to return it for a working copy? When I ordered it about a year ago, I was one of the unfortunate people who recieved a defective copy.

It's a roman numeral.
