I got yours shred, I'll have my mix for you sent out probably tomorrow before I go in to work, and I'll get it to you too Voss
EDIT:
1. Tori Amos - Precious Things
Great song from Tori, who I am already a fan of. Shows off her eccentricity without being completely off putting. Great vocal performance, great energy to the song, overall very good.
2. Rabbit in the Moon - Outer Body Experience
Really enjoyed it, nice and relaxing, but still had a bit of a driving energy. Definitely a band I'm going to look more into.
3. Al Di Meola - Fight Over Reo
Started out slow, but when it reached about two minutes into it things started to pick up. Pretty interesting, not too sure I'm that big a fan of it though. Good musicianship but nothing I could listen to too often.
4. Dave Martone - The Four Horsemen
To be honest this was like a cheap mans Steve Vai
5. TonyMacAlpine/Bunny Brunel/Dennis Chambers - Cab
Amazing bass solo, and of these instrumental showcase songs definitely the best so far.
6. Spastic Ink - Words for Nerds
Already was a fan of the band, but I forgot about this song. Nice guitar work, amazing bass work, everything about the drums rules, but the stupid little samples were annoying as hell.
7. Graveword - Portrait of a Deadly Nightshade
Good lyrics, and the occasional good riff, but not really my style. I guess it is better than most things I've heard from that style though
8. Jason Becker - Temple of the Absurd
Holy shit some good riffs here, also some great soloing, great shit.
9. Yngwie J. Malmsteen - How Many Miles to Babylon
Ehh, preconceptions coming into this song - it would be boring, it would be overly shreddy, and it would suck. Well it was kind of boring, I didn't like the shreddiness of it, but it didn't really suck. There were some interesting parts.
10. maudlin of the Well (you spelled it wrong on the CD insert man, the m isn't capitalized) - They Aren't All Beautiful
Great band, great song, furious as all hell but they know how to prevent it from being just a mindless wall of blasting and hate. Certainly one of their best songs, and probably the best song on the disc.
11. Pavor - Corpses
Obviously very good bass work, I mean it is Pavor! The riffs are good, and the vocals work, but aside from the bass nothing really sticks out enough to say HEY THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING
12. Lux Occulta - The Heresiarch
Ther are definitely some good riffs to be found here, and in the first part of it. The almost kind of randomly thrown in bits don't really add much to the song itself though, it sounds like a lesser version of Arcturus with a greater focus on the black metal aspect to be honest.
13. Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan - Silence
I love Sarah's voice so much, really kind of eerie and haunting sounding in this song, and she was definitely the highlight of the song. The music was just there to create the right sound for her to sing over. Very nice song.
