UM Mix CD Discussion

Sending things to Canada always takes longer. It's likely I will have gone home to Boston by the time it gets here at this point. A review of my CD would be cool.

Well it shouldn't take more than 2 weeks that's for sure. Unless someone shipped it by ground mail instead of air mail...in which case it could take like 2 months.

I've gotten plenty of stuff shipping to me in like 3-5 days from the USA. I also shipped stuff by regular Air Mail that reached someone in Germany in 3 days.

But snail mail is more kvlt!

Surely a man with pants of such stature as your own would agree.

I finally got it yesterday. I'm looking forward to listening/reviewing. I had my friend into Indie Rock look over your list and he approved.

A man with pants of such stature as my own would prefer to sit at his computer chair. Standing in a queue at the post office would not please a man with pants of such stature as my own. Furthermore, A man with pants of such stature as my own does not care for what is kvlt.

I listened to the first ten songs of Alter's metal mix. Here are my thoughts.

Merrimack - Of Ashes and Purification: I think this was just an intro song. Sounded fine.

Taake - Vid I: Had some good ideas but the song felt busy and rushed. I'm not really a fan of this band.

Peste Noire - Dueil Angoisseus: I enjoyed this a lot. Interesting and evocative song.

Rahu - On Ketu's Trail: I like this song as well. Good melody.

Horna - Imperial Devastation: Really boring. I'm also not a fan of Horna and this song didn't help.

Pelican - City of Echoes: Interesting but not really all that captivating. Almost like ambient music.

Pentagram - Sign of the Wolf: Good song. I don't really go out of my way to listen to classic metal but I usually like it when I listen to it.

Drudkh - Furrows of the Gods: I liked this song. Good riffs and some interesting lead work. Better than what I remember from Autumn Aurora.

Hills of Sefiroth - The Pillar of the Elite: Boring

Sacrilegious Impalement - Sacrilegious Impalement: I thought the misspelling was Alter's fault but actually it was the band's. Extremely typical and boring.

'Twould have been badass. Perhaps we can do a trade of our own sometime.

How many of the songs in my mix have you heard anyway?

I've heard these before:

1) The Moody Blues - Departure/Ride My See-Saw (In Search of the Lost Chord, 1968)
big Moody Blues fan
2) Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Toccata (Brain Salad Surgery, 1973)
Good song but my fav is "Still You Turn Me On"
3) Ten Years After - Here They Come (A Space in Time, 1971)
this just came in the mail from Amazon last week
14) The Doors - The Crystal Ship (The Doors, 1967)
Classic
15) Queens Of The Stone Age - The Sky Is Fallin' (Songs for the Deaf, 2002)
Haven't heard this one in awhile

I've heard good things about Bloodrock and Hawkwind but never heard them before. And yes we should do a future trade.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I would indeed be interested. I can't quite see that being Manilla Road's kind of song, though.

Good, I won't have to change my mix too much. :)

I've heard good things about Bloodrock and Hawkwind but never heard them before.

Hawkwind is one of my favorite bands ever - like top 10. In Search of Space, Space Ritual, Hall of the Mountain Grill, and Warrior on the Edge of Time are all mandatory listens.

Bloodrock isn't a terribly solid band, but I like them a lot for their uniqueness. They have a certain brand of low-budget horror movie style creepiness that I haven't really heard anywhere else. The s/t album is great.

And yes we should do a future trade.

Cool, I'm up for it whenever, just let me know when you are.

Dude, I'll do it.

No prob, honey. I'll be waitin' :)
