Unidentified "Paint it Black" cover

Reminds me of Stratavarious for some reason, maybe the guitar playing, then I almost wonder if thats not Lande singing but Im not real fimiliar with either.

I always though Paint it Black could make a good metal song, one of the few Rolling Stone songs Im crazy about

It's not Glenn Tipton's version and I believe it's not Rage's version either. Sounds like what some people called neoclassical metal but with symphonic adds, the guitar is pretty much Malmsteen or Stratovarius. The vocals are not Lande but it's not a singer I can identify easily.

The covers I checked and are NOT this one are:
Anvil
At all Cost
Bluebeard
Deadsy
Earth Crisis
Gob
Inkubus Sukkubus
Glenn Tipton/Judas Priest
Marduk
Rage
Rammstein
Taetre
The Accused
The Agony Scene
The Black Dahlia Murder
The Unseen
U2
Vicious Rumors
WASP

Not as clean/clear as what Lande I have heard but similiarly powerful... no ? Pretty decent vocalist I would say. Doesnt seem there was that many guitar players playing like that yet in the 80's

Well if you look it up on wiki, theres alot of bands that have covered the song, most Im unfimiliar with... bottom of page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint_it_Black

Fantastic cover!!!
This sounds very similar to At Vance and singer reminds me on Mats Leven and Jeff Scott Soto.

Not Mats Leven, I know his voice well through several bands. This guy have a bit on Lande and a bit of Perry like people have mentioned but it's not either totally.

And the neoclassical guitar and symphonic arrangements have me very puzzled about which band can be.

From the list up there I can also add that there are versions by:

Trust (Fr)
Deep Purple (well we know it's not them :D)
Angel Blake
Witchfynde (nope).
Sister Sin (I know it's not Liv vocal's either)

plus some other obscure bands I doubt they apply for this version.

I checked Strat and Timo and nothing said about him covering this or contributing to a metal/rock tribute album. Thats who the guitar sounds like to me is Timo, far more than Yngwie, but I checked Yngwies past too... nothing on Uli either. Im starting to think its 90's not 80's to be honest. Then something about the vocalist made me think Farlow but he covered the song in the 60's... lol. Im checking Shrapnel shreaders now, this had to come from a tribute album. What about Warrior ?

It's the band The Zoo with Arnell Pineda on vocals for sure.

Read this:

"Videos of The Zoo performing cover songs by Journey, Survivor, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Air Supply, The Eagles, Kenny Loggins and other popular acts from the 70s, 80s and 90s, began appearing on YouTube.com in February 2007. On June 28, 2007,[5] Neal Schon of Journey contacted Noel Gomez, a longtime fan and friend of Pineda who uploaded many of these videos, to ask for Pineda's contact information. "

The cover should be from the 80's (or early 90's, I can't remember exactly) - I had it on a tape for some 20 years, recorded from the radio.

Then I am wrong because the Zoo was formed in 2006.
See here:

However from what I heard I was damn sure that the vocalist was Arnel Pineda. I have seen him live and can not imagine that it is not him.

Besides, given the music and the track they are performing it is very likely that it is 'The Zoo' that is playing the track.

So;

1) Either I am wrong and don't know what the hell I am talking about

or

2) You are mistaken about the source of the recording.

3) ???

Found it, it's from 1988 and by a band called After Hours. No I've never heard of them either.

The guy does sound a lot like Steve Perry (and therefore Arnel Pineda too). Heavy Harmonies has some info about them.
